AP leg refers to an anteroposterior radiographic view of the lower leg, where the X‑ray beam passes from front (anterior) to back (posterior). A lateral view is typically obtained alongside the AP view for complete evaluation.

For a leg X‑ray two views are standard. AP (anteroposterior): patient supine or standing, affected leg fully extended, foot dorsiflexed so the patella faces upward; central ray aimed at the mid‑shaft, include knee and ankle.
