X Ray left Toe Lateral View

A lateral view is an X-ray projection taken with the X-ray beam passing from one side of the body to the other, producing a side-profile image. It separates overlapping structures, shows depth and relationships (e.g., vertebral alignment, joint spaces, chest retrosternal/retrocardiac areas), and helps detect fractures, dislocations, fluid levels, or soft-tissue abnormalities not clear on frontal views.

The lateral toe projection is an X‑ray view taken with the toe placed in a true lateral position to show the phalanges, interphalangeal joints and adjacent soft tissues in profile. It improves detection of fractures, dislocations, joint space narrowing and foreign bodies.
