Vitamin B complex — eight B vitamins — help convert food into energy by supporting carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism. They support nervous system and brain function, aid red blood cell production and oxygen transport, and are vital for DNA/RNA synthesis and cell repair. Specific B vitamins (like B9/folate and B12) are especially important for fetal development, mood, and maintaining healthy skin, hair and immune function.

Foods rich in B vitamins include whole grains, fortified cereals, and nutritional yeast; animal sources like meat (especially liver), poultry, fish, eggs and dairy; legumes (beans, lentils), leafy green vegetables (spinach, kale), nuts and seeds; and fruits such as bananas and avocados. Different B vitamins vary by food—B12 is mainly in animal products, while folate is abundant in leafy greens and legumes.
