What is a Silver Test?
The Silver test measures the amount of silver in the blood. Silver is not needed by the body and can build up with repeated exposure. High silver levels can cause a condition called argyria, which darkens the skin and eyes. Very high or prolonged exposure can also affect the lungs, kidneys, and nervous system. Doctors use this test to confirm suspected silver poisoning, check exposure after accidents at work, or monitor people using silver-containing products. Results are used with symptoms, exposure history, and other tests to guide treatment and prevention.

Why Take a Silver Test?
Silver is usually ordered as part of a heavy metals or toxicology panel when exposure is suspected.
