MRI of the craniovertebral (CV) junction images the region where the skull base meets the upper cervical spine (occiput, atlas C1, axis C2, and foramen magnum). It provides detailed views of bone, spinal cord, ligaments (transverse and alar), neural elements and soft tissues to detect congenital anomalies, Chiari malformations, tumors, infection, inflammatory disease, instability or traumatic injury and assess cord compression.

A cardiovascular (CV) MRI, or cardiac MRI, is a noninvasive imaging test that uses magnetic fields and radio waves to produce detailed pictures of the heart and nearby blood vessels. Each uses different sequences to highlight anatomy, function, or microstructure.
