What is a HUTT Head Upright Tilt Test Test?
The head upright tilt test measures how your heart rate and blood pressure change when you move from lying to an upright position. It checks how the autonomic nervous system controls circulation and blood flow to the brain. Proper responses prevent dizziness and fainting. Abnormal responses can point to vasovagal syncope, orthostatic hypotension, or postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS). During the test, staff monitor ECG and blood pressure while the table tilts. Sometimes mild medication is used to provoke a response.
