You’ll be asked to remove shoes, socks and any orthotics; a hospital gown may be provided. Bring slip-on shoes for after. Inform staff about implants, prior surgeries or pregnancy, and follow the imaging center’s specific instructions.

CT scans primarily show bones and can depict gross soft-tissue changes, but they have limited sensitivity for normal ligaments and tendons. CT arthrography or high-resolution CT can help visualize tears or associated injuries, especially with calcification, but MRI is the preferred modality for detailed assessment of ligaments and tendons; ultrasound is useful for superficial tendons and dynamic evaluation.
