Arterial Doppler Left Limb

Normal lower‑limb arterial Doppler findings: ankle–brachial index (ABI) 1.0–1.3; toe–brachial index typically ≥0.7–0.8; triphasic Doppler waveforms in peripheral arteries (sharp systolic upstroke, brief reversal, late diastolic forward flow); peak systolic velocity ratios <2 across segments, indicating no hemodynamically significant stenosis. Clinical correlation and duplex interpretation by a vascular specialist are recommended.

A positive Doppler ultrasound means abnormal blood flow—commonly indicating a clot (DVT), arterial narrowing/occlusion, or reduced fetal/placental perfusion. Clinicians will confirm with further imaging, evaluate risk, and begin appropriate treatment: anticoagulation for clots, possible endovascular or surgical intervention for arterial blockages, or increased monitoring in pregnancy. A leg Doppler (ultrasound) is non-invasive and usually painless. A warm gel and a probe are moved over the skin; you may feel mild pressure when the technician presses or during compression of veins.
