Clinical evaluation is recommended to determine cause and guide diet, hydration, and possible medication.

A uric acid test measures blood uric acid levels during pregnancy to help detect and monitor hypertensive disorders—especially preeclampsia. Elevated levels can correlate with disease severity, worsening kidney function, and higher risk of fetal growth restriction or other complications.
