A sinogram is a 2-D map of projection data used in tomographic image reconstruction. It plots detector position versus projection angle, representing the Radon transform of the object. In MRI it appears with projection‑reconstruction or radial techniques, helping reconstruction, artifact detection and motion correction. Converting a sinogram back into an image uses filtered back‑projection or iterative reconstruction methods.

Sinogram (fistulogram/sinus tract imaging) is usually only mildly uncomfortable. You may feel brief stinging or pressure when contrast is injected and some tenderness from probe or catheter, but severe pain is uncommon. The procedure is short and often performed under local anesthetic or careful technique. Inform staff if you experience intense pain, fever, increasing redness, or swelling afterward.

A sinogram maps a sinus tract or chronic drainage channel using contrast and X‑ray/fluoroscopy. The skin opening is cleaned; a small catheter is placed and water‑soluble contrast is gently injected while serial X‑rays or CT images track the tract. The procedure takes about 15–30 minutes; local anaesthetic may be used. Aftercare: keep the site clean, watch for infection; radiologist reports results.

To check MRI images, review the radiologist’s report first, then open DICOM files in a viewer or PACS. Compare sequences (T1, T2, FLAIR, post-contrast), scan slice-by-slice for asymmetry, abnormal signal, masses, edema or contrast enhancement, and note location and size. Compare with prior studies. Don’t self-diagnose—discuss findings with the radiologist or referring clinician and seek a second opinion if unclear.
