Shoulder MRI typically uses a gadolinium-based contrast agent given intravenously to highlight inflammation, tumors, vascularity, and post‑operative changes. For detailed evaluation of labral or rotator-cuff pathology, MR arthrography uses intra‑articular injection of a diluted gadolinium solution into the joint. After a shoulder arthrogram you should not drive if you received sedation, strong pain medicines, or still have numbness, weakness, dizziness, or significant pain. If only local anesthetic was used and sensation/muscle control has fully returned, driving is usually acceptable once you can safely operate pedals and controls.
