MRI is generally better for soft-tissue evaluation in the foot—ligaments, tendons, cartilage, bone marrow edema, and infections—while CT excels at detailed bone anatomy, complex or displaced fractures, and preoperative planning. CT uses ionizing radiation and is faster; MRI avoids radiation but is longer and can be limited by metal or claustrophobia. Choice depends on suspected pathology; discuss with your clinician.
