What is the normal AP diameter of L4 and L5?

Normal anteroposterior (AP) diameter of the lumbar spinal canal at L4–L5 is generally ≥13 mm, with typical measured values often in the ~15–25 mm range. An AP diameter of 10–13 mm is considered relative narrowing (possible stenosis), while <10 mm is commonly regarded as absolute spinal stenosis requiring further evaluation.

What is the best imaging for spine problems?

The best imaging depends on the suspected spine problem. MRI is the preferred study for most spinal complaints because it shows discs, nerve roots, spinal cord, and soft tissues. CT better defines bone detail and is used for fractures or when MRI is contraindicated. Plain X-rays assess alignment and chronic degenerative change. Nuclear bone scans can help detect infection or metastasis in specific cases.

X Ray Whole Spine AP View, in Prayagraj

Q: What is an AP view of the spine?

An AP (anteroposterior) view of the spine is an X‑ray projection taken with the beam entering the front and exiting the back of the patient. It shows vertebral bodies, disc spaces and overall alignment, useful for detecting fractures, deformity, infection or hardware position. Typically performed standing or supine with arms out of the field; posterior elements are less visible, so a lateral view is often added.

Q: What is full spine X-ray called?

A full spine X‑ray is called a full‑spine (whole‑spine) radiograph or spine survey, often referred to as a scoliosis series when assessing curvature. It typically includes standing anteroposterior (AP) and lateral long‑cassette views to visualize the entire cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine for alignment, deformity, trauma, or degenerative changes.

Q: What is the AP spine?

The AP spine is an anteroposterior X‑ray projection of the spinal column where the X‑ray beam passes from the front (anterior) to the back (posterior) of the patient. It images vertebral bodies, disc spaces and alignment, helping detect fractures, deformity, infection or degenerative changes, and is often used when lateral views aren’t possible; positioning is supine or upright with the detector behind the back.

Q: What does AP view mean in X-ray?

AP view means anteroposterior projection: the X‑ray beam passes from the patient's front (anterior) to back (posterior) onto the detector. It’s commonly used for supine, bed‑bound, or trauma patients when a standard PA view isn’t possible. Compared with PA films, AP images can magnify the heart and mediastinum and often have reduced image quality, so findings are interpreted with those limitations in mind.

What is a X Ray Whole Spine AP View Test in Prayagraj ?

What is X Ray Whole Spine AP View?

An X Ray Whole Spine AP View produces a front-to-back image of your entire spine. It shows the position and shape of each vertebra and gives a view of spinal alignment and curvature. It is non-invasive and shows internal structures directly, providing information that blood and urine tests cannot.

What does X Ray Whole Spine AP View show?

The test helps detect fractures, abnormal curves like scoliosis, arthritis changes, infections, and some tumors. Doctors use it to investigate back pain, monitor known spinal problems, plan surgery, and check healing after treatment. The procedure is quick and widely available. Radiation exposure is low, but doctors order it only when the benefits outweigh the risks.

What symptoms suggest X Ray Whole Spine AP View may be needed?

X Ray Whole Spine AP View is generally requested as part of a imaging assessment. Doctors commonly investigate this area when someone reports localised pain, swelling, or injury, a lump or restricted movement, or an abnormal finding on an earlier test that needs to be examined directly. Whether X Ray Whole Spine AP View specifically is the right test depends on your history and what your doctor is looking for. In Prayagraj, you can book this test online and check whether home collection reaches Sulem Sarai, Dhoomanganj or your address.

How is X Ray Whole Spine AP View done?

This is an imaging scan, not a blood or fluid test, so no sample is collected. A qualified radiographer positions you at an accredited GetVisit-partnered imaging centre in Sulem Sarai or Dhoomanganj, Prayagraj and captures the images in a few minutes. A radiologist reviews them and your report is made available through GetVisit.

How accurate is X Ray Whole Spine AP View?

GetVisit partners only with accredited imaging centres in and around Sulem Sarai, Dhoomanganj, and Prayagraj that use maintained, calibrated equipment and qualified radiographers. Every scan is interpreted by a qualified radiologist, and reports are accepted by hospital networks, specialists, and insurers across India.

Are there any risks to X Ray Whole Spine AP View?

A standard X-ray uses a very low dose of radiation considered safe for diagnostic use; ultrasound uses sound waves and involves no radiation at all. If you are or might be pregnant, tell the centre in Sulem Sarai or Dhoomanganj, Prayagraj beforehand so the safest approach can be chosen. There is no needle and no recovery time.
