What is a X Ray Sialography Test in Chandigarh ?
What is X Ray Sialography?
X Ray Sialography is an imaging exam that shows the ducts and structure of the salivary glands. A small contrast dye is gently injected into a gland duct. It is non-invasive and shows internal structures directly, providing information that blood and urine tests cannot.
What does X Ray Sialography show?
X‑rays then show how the ducts fill and where blockages or damage occur. It helps find stones, strictures, infections, chronic inflammation, and some tumors. Saliva is important for chewing, digestion, and oral health. Doctors use sialography to diagnose the cause of gland pain or swelling.
What symptoms suggest X Ray Sialography may be needed?
X Ray Sialography is generally requested as part of a imaging assessment. Doctors commonly investigate this area when someone reports localised pain, swelling, or injury, a lump or restricted movement, or an abnormal finding on an earlier test that needs to be examined directly. Whether X Ray Sialography specifically is the right test depends on your history and what your doctor is looking for. GetVisit makes testing convenient in Chandigarh, with partner-lab slots and home collection offered in many areas including Sector 22 and Sector 32.
How is X Ray Sialography done?
No needle or sample is involved. At an accredited imaging centre serving Sector 22 and Sector 32, Chandigarh, a radiographer performs the scan, which is painless and usually completed within 10 to 15 minutes. A qualified radiologist interprets the images and issues a report you can access on GetVisit. (Home collection does not apply to imaging.)
How accurate is X Ray Sialography?
Image quality and interpretation are the two pillars of accuracy. GetVisit's accredited centres serving Sector 22 and Sector 32, Chandigarh maintain modern equipment, and a qualified radiologist reviews each study before the report is issued.
Are there any risks to X Ray Sialography?
A standard X-ray uses a very low dose of radiation considered safe for diagnostic use; ultrasound uses sound waves and involves no radiation at all. If you are or might be pregnant, tell the centre in Sector 22 or Sector 32, Chandigarh beforehand so the safest approach can be chosen. There is no needle and no recovery time.
Did you know?
Sialography is an imaging test of the salivary glands and ducts where a radiopaque contrast is gently injected into a duct and X-rays or fluoroscopy (sometimes CT) are taken.

Why Take a X Ray Sialography Test in Chandigarh ?
When does a doctor order X Ray Sialography?
X Ray Sialography is used when doctors suspect salivary duct problems or gland disease. It is ordered for symptoms such as painful swelling, recurring gland infections, or pain when eating.
Who should get X Ray Sialography done in Chandigarh?
Chandigarh's administrative, education and IT workforce, rich regional diet driving high diabetes and cardiovascular prevalence, winter air pollution, and large student population make regular preventive testing worthwhile citywide. Those who benefit most from X Ray Sialography include patients needing structural assessment that bloodwork cannot provide, and anyone under surveillance for a previously detected abnormality in Chandigarh.
What can X Ray Sialography help detect?
The test helps diagnose stones, strictures, chronic sialadenitis, autoimmune gland disease, and some tumors. Abnormal findings can come from stones, infection, inflammation, prior surgery, or autoimmune conditions. Family history of autoimmune disease may make this test more relevant.
What do X Ray Sialography results mean?
An imaging report describes what the scan shows and whether it is normal or reveals a specific finding. A qualified radiologist interprets the images, and your doctor explains what any finding means for you and whether a further test or treatment is needed. The FAQs below cover what this scan can and cannot show.
How often should X Ray Sialography be repeated?
For preventive screening with a normal baseline: annually for most adults above 35. For monitoring a known condition: at the interval your specialist recommends, typically every 3 to 6 months for active conditions and annually for stable, well-controlled ones.
What happens after your X Ray Sialography results are ready?
Reports arrive digitally and remain in your GetVisit history, so repeat tests can be tracked over months and years. Review anything unexpected with your doctor before changing medication or lifestyle, and use the app to book a follow-up if needed.
