Right oblique chest view is an X‑ray projection obtained with the patient rotated about 45° toward the right side so the chest is imaged obliquely. It accentuates the right lung, hilar structures, ribs and mediastinum, helping detect lesions, rib fractures, localized effusions or hilar enlargement that may be obscured on standard PA/AP or lateral views.

An oblique chest x‑ray is a radiographic projection taken with the patient rotated about 30–60° from the front or side to image the chest at an angle. It complements frontal (PA/AP) and lateral views to better show rib fractures, lung apices, pleural collections and lesions obscured by the heart or diaphragm, aiding localization and assessment when standard views are inconclusive.

An oblique view on an X‑ray is taken with the patient or X‑ray beam rotated at an angle from the standard frontal (AP/PA) or lateral positions to project anatomy off the main planes. The right oblique position is when a person’s body is rotated so the torso lies diagonally between supine and right lateral, typically about 30–45 degrees. In right anterior oblique (RAO) the right front is nearer the surface; in right posterior oblique (RPO) the right back is nearer. It’s used in exams, imaging, and procedures to better expose right-sided structures.

Right oblique discomfort is pain or soreness along the right-sided oblique muscles of the abdomen or flank. Common causes include muscle strain from twisting or heavy lifting, spasms, rib or chest injuries, and referred pain from organs (gallbladder, kidney, appendix) or shingles. Rest, ice, gentle stretching, and analgesics often help, but see a clinician promptly for severe, worsening pain, fever, breathing changes, or other concerning signs.

The oblique fissure of the lungs (major fissure) is an oblique anatomical groove that separates the inferior lobe from the superior lobe (and from the middle lobe on the right). It runs downward and forward across each lung from the posterior thorax toward the anterior chest near the sixth rib, helping define lobar boundaries and guiding bronchovascular anatomy.
