X Ray Both Scaphoid AP & Lateral view, in Vasai Virar

Standard X‑ray views for suspected scaphoid fracture are: PA wrist, PA with ulnar deviation (dedicated scaphoid view), lateral wrist, and oblique (about 45°) view. Additional useful projections include a 30° cranially angulated scaphoid view and a pronated oblique; a carpal‑tunnel view can show displacement. If films are negative but suspicion remains, immobilize and repeat or obtain CT/MRI.

Yes. The scaphoid is a carpal bone on the lateral (radial, thumb) side of the wrist, located in the proximal carpal row and articulating with the radius to help stabilize wrist motion. It is the most commonly fractured carpal bone after a fall on an outstretched hand; because its blood supply is mostly distal-to-proximal, proximal fractures risk delayed healing and avascular necrosis.

Two standard wrist X-ray views are the posteroanterior (PA) and the lateral. The PA view (palm down) shows the distal radius and ulna, carpal bones, and joint spaces to assess alignment and fractures. The lateral view (side) demonstrates dorsal–volar displacement, carpal alignment, and wrist stability, useful for detecting dislocations and assessing fracture angulation.

Yes. A scaphoid fracture typically causes pain on the thumb-side of the wrist, especially in the anatomical snuffbox. Pain is often sharp after a fall onto an outstretched hand, worsens with gripping or wrist movement, and may be accompanied by swelling and reduced range of motion. Because symptoms can be subtle, prompt medical assessment and imaging are important to prevent nonunion.

The four standard scaphoid radiographic views are posteroanterior (PA), PA with ulnar deviation (scaphoid view), lateral, and an oblique (semi‑pronated) view. PA with ulnar deviation and an angled/oblique projection specifically profile the scaphoid waist and proximal pole to reveal fractures that may be occult on a routine wrist PA. Lateral shows displacement and carpal alignment.

A scaphoid view X‑ray is a special angled wrist projection used when a scaphoid fracture is suspected. It improves detection of subtle or nondisplaced scaphoid breaks that standard views can miss, helps assess fracture alignment and stability, and guides management because the scaphoid’s limited blood supply risks nonunion or avascular necrosis. If X‑rays are normal but suspicion remains, further imaging may be needed.
