X Ray Both Knees AP and Lateral Standing View

A standing AP and lateral view are weight-bearing X‑ray images taken with the patient upright. AP (anteroposterior) is front-to-back; lateral is side-on. Together they show spinal or joint alignment, curvature, disc and joint space, fractures, and deformities under normal load. These views help assess posture, instability, scoliosis, osteoarthritis, and other conditions that change with standing.

An AP and lateral knee X‑ray usually costs roughly: in India about ₹200–₹1,200 at private labs; in the UK it’s often free in public healthcare but private clinics may charge ~£30–£100; in the US out‑of‑pocket prices typically range $50–$300. Prices vary by location, facility, imaging quality and whether a radiologist report or extra views are included.

Knee AP (anteroposterior) is an X‑ray taken front‑to‑back that shows joint space, bone alignment and fractures; weight‑bearing AP assesses arthritis. Lateral is a side view, usually with the knee slightly flexed, that highlights the patella, femoral condyles, posterior joint space, effusion and displacement. Together they provide complementary projections for diagnosing fractures, dislocation, arthritis and joint effusions.

AP (anteroposterior) and Lat (lateral) describe X‑ray projections. AP means the X‑ray beam passes front-to-back (patient’s anterior to posterior), often used supine or when upright PA isn’t possible; it tends to magnify organs. Standing (weight‑bearing) AP knee: patient stands erect facing the vertical detector with knees extended and equal weight on both legs. Internally rotate the feet about 10° so femoral condyles are parallel to the receptor. Center the x‑ray beam at the mid‑knee joint (approximately 1 cm below the patellar apex). Include distal femur and proximal tibia in the exposure.
