When does a doctor order V/Q Scan (Both Lung Perfusion and Lung Ventilation)?

V/Q Scan (Both Lung Perfusion and Lung Ventilation) is an imaging study used in the workup for suspected pulmonary embolism and other causes of unexplained breathlessness. Doctors order it when symptoms include sudden shortness of breath, chest pain, or low oxygen levels, or when CT scanning is not suitable.

Who should get V/Q Scan done in Agra?

Agra's tourism and leather-industry workforce, monsoon waterborne-infection burden, severe winter air pollution, extreme summer heat, and rising diabetes make regular preventive diagnostic testing worthwhile across the city. Those who benefit most from V/Q Scan include patients needing structural assessment that bloodwork cannot provide, and anyone under surveillance for a previously detected abnormality in Agra.

What can V/Q Scan help detect?

The conditions diagnosable through V/Q Scan depend on the specific markers the test measures. Results either confirm a suspected diagnosis, support a clinical suspicion requiring further investigation, or effectively exclude the condition the test was screening for. Abnormal results can come from blood clots, lung disease, or reduced blood flow. A family history of blood clotting disorders makes this test more important.

What do V/Q Scan results mean?

An imaging report describes what the scan shows and whether it is normal or reveals a specific finding. A qualified radiologist interprets the images, and your doctor explains what any finding means for you and whether a further test or treatment is needed. The FAQs below cover what this scan can and cannot show.

How often should V/Q Scan be repeated?

For preventive screening with a normal baseline: annually for most adults above 35. For monitoring a known condition: at the interval your specialist recommends, typically every 3 to 6 months for active conditions and annually for stable, well-controlled ones.

What happens after your V/Q Scan results are ready?

Your GetVisit digital report is delivered to your phone as soon as results are authorised. Share it directly with your doctor via the app, or book a consultation with a GetVisit-verified specialist on the same platform. Critical values outside a safe range are flagged by the laboratory for urgent clinical review.
