A whole abdomen ultrasound during pregnancy is a non‑invasive scan using a transducer across the mother’s abdomen to image maternal abdominal organs and the uterus and fetus. It evaluates fetal growth, position, placenta, amniotic fluid and uterine anatomy, and can detect maternal conditions (e.g., liver, kidney, gallbladder issues) or complications. It’s safe, painless, and may require a full bladder early in pregnancy for better visualization.
