A wrist ultrasound visualizes soft-tissue structures in real time, including tendons (tears, tenosynovitis, subluxation), ligaments, the median nerve (carpal tunnel), joint effusions and ganglion cysts. Doppler shows increased blood flow from inflammation. It can detect foreign bodies and cortical irregularities but is limited for detailed bone assessment. The test is noninvasive and operator-dependent, useful for dynamic tendon evaluation.
