What is a SPT - Allergy Test Test in Lucknow ?
What is SPT - Allergy Test?
The SPT (skin prick test) checks whether your skin reacts to specific allergens. Small drops of common allergen extracts are placed on the forearm or back. Physical examination provides clues; a test result removes ambiguity and allows targeted, evidence-based management to begin promptly.
What does SPT - Allergy Test measure?
The skin is gently pricked so the substance touches the top layer. A raised, itchy bump (wheal) within 15–20 minutes suggests an immediate allergic response. This shows an IgE‑mediated sensitivity. The test helps identify triggers for hay fever, asthma, eczema, food reactions, and insect venom allergies.
What symptoms suggest SPT - Allergy Test may be needed?
A doctor may recommend SPT - Allergy Test when a patient reports hives or skin rash, nasal congestion, sneezing, itchy or watery eyes, asthma symptoms triggered by specific exposures, and digestive symptoms after eating specific foods. Sample collection for Lucknow is available at labs and at home across Jankipuram, Aminabad, and surrounding neighbourhoods.
How is SPT - Allergy Test performed?
This test is performed on a swab or fluid sample collected by a trained healthcare professional, not on a routine blood draw. Collection is quick and done at a GetVisit-partnered lab or collection point in Jankipuram or Aminabad, Lucknow, after which the sample is dispatched to the NABL-accredited lab for processing.
How accurate is SPT - Allergy Test?
Samples collected in Jankipuram or Aminabad, Lucknow are processed at NABL-accredited labs using validated methods and internal quality control. Accuracy depends on correct collection technique by a trained professional, which GetVisit's partnered centres follow. Reports are accepted by hospitals, specialists, and insurers across India.
Are there any risks to SPT - Allergy Test?
Risk is minimal. Swab, sputum, or fluid collection by a trained professional in Jankipuram or Aminabad, Lucknow may cause brief, mild discomfort but no lasting effects. Any specific precaution for your test will be explained at the collection centre.
Did you know?
A raised, itchy bump (wheal) within 15–20 minutes suggests an immediate allergic response.

Why Take a SPT - Allergy Test Test in Lucknow ?
When does a doctor order SPT - Allergy Test?
SPT - Allergy Test is often used in an allergy workup or respiratory/allergy panel to find what triggers symptoms. Doctors order it when patients have sneezing, itchy eyes, hives, eczema flares, wheeze, or suspected food reactions.
Who should get SPT - Allergy Test done in Lucknow?
Lucknow's growing population, rich Awadhi diet driving diabetes and heart disease, winter air pollution, and seasonal monsoon infections make regular preventive diagnostic testing worthwhile for residents across the city. Allergy testing benefits people with recurrent hives, chronic nasal or respiratory symptoms, or reactions after specific foods. In Lucknow, seasonal and dust-related allergens affect many residents across Aminabad, Nishatganj, and surrounding areas.
What conditions can SPT - Allergy Test help diagnose?
It helps diagnose allergic rhinitis, atopic dermatitis, food or venom allergies, and guides treatment like avoidance or immunotherapy. Recent antihistamine use or active skin disease can cause false negatives, and a family history of allergies makes testing more important.
What do SPT - Allergy Test results mean?
Higher or positive results: SPT positive means a skin prick test produces an immediate wheal-and-flare reaction to a specific allergen, usually a wheal at least 3 mm larger than the negative control. Your doctor reads the value against the reference range on your report and your symptoms, and may repeat a borderline result to confirm it.
How often should SPT - Allergy Test be repeated?
For preventive screening with a normal baseline: annually for most adults above 35. For monitoring a known condition: at the interval your specialist recommends , typically every 3 to 6 months for active conditions and annually for stable, well-controlled ones.
What happens after SPT - Allergy Test results are ready?
Results are delivered to your phone and stored securely on GetVisit. Any value the laboratory flags as critical is escalated for urgent review, and for everything else your doctor or a verified specialist can guide the next step at your convenience.
