What is a Rgu & Mcu Test in Jodhpur ?
What is Rgu & Mcu?
RGU (retrograde urethrogram) and MCU (micturating cystourethrogram) are X‑ray studies that show the urethra and bladder. A contrast dye is used to outline these structures and to observe how urine flows.
What does Rgu & Mcu measure?
They are important because they reveal blockages, strictures, injuries, or backward flow of urine into the kidneys. Doctors use them to investigate urinary symptoms, recurrent infections, trauma after accidents, and problems with voiding. Results help guide treatment decisions such as surgery, catheter management, or further imaging. The tests give both anatomical detail and functional information about how the bladder fills and empties.
What symptoms suggest Rgu & Mcu may be needed?
Rgu & Mcu is generally requested as part of a kidney function assessment. Doctors commonly investigate this area when someone reports ankle or leg swelling, reduced urine output, frothy or foamy urine, persistent fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, persistent itching, muscle cramps, and high blood pressure. Whether Rgu & Mcu specifically is the right test depends on your history and what your doctor is looking for. Sample collection for Jodhpur is available at partner labs, with home collection in many areas including Sardarpura and Chopasni Housing Board; you can confirm availability for your address at booking.
How is Rgu & Mcu performed?
This test needs a urine sample, not a blood draw. Collect a clean mid-stream sample in the sterile container GetVisit provides, ideally the first morning void, and hand it to the collection agent in Sardarpura or Chopasni Housing Board, Jodhpur or drop it at a partnered lab. It is dispatched to the NABL-accredited lab and your digital report follows once the laboratory releases it, usually within 24 to 48 hours.
How accurate is Rgu & Mcu?
Urine results are reliable when the sample is collected cleanly and transported quickly. GetVisit's Jodhpur network handles prompt, temperature-appropriate transport from Sardarpura or Chopasni Housing Board to the NABL lab, and quality control is independently audited by NABL.
Are there any risks to Rgu & Mcu?
There is no medical risk. Providing a urine sample is completely non-invasive, with no needle and no discomfort. The only thing to get right is a clean collection: follow the container instructions to avoid contamination that could affect the result. Home collection in Sardarpura or Chopasni Housing Board, Jodhpur is just as safe as visiting a lab.

Why Take a Rgu & Mcu Test in Jodhpur ?
When does a doctor order Rgu & Mcu?
Rgu & Mcu are imaging studies often ordered together to evaluate the lower urinary tract. They are used when symptoms such as painful or difficult urination, blood in the urine, recurrent urinary infections, urine leakage, or a history of pelvic trauma occur.
Who should get Rgu & Mcu done in Jodhpur?
Jodhpur's desert climate with extreme summer heat and hard water raising stone risk, ghee-rich Marwari diet driving diabetes and heart disease, and tourism and trade economy make regular preventive testing worthwhile citywide. Kidney testing matters most for people with diabetes or high blood pressure, a family history of kidney disease, recurrent kidney stones, or long-term use of painkillers such as ibuprofen or diclofenac. In Jodhpur, residents of Sardarpura, Chopasni Housing Board, and areas with variable water quality or high summer heat face added dehydration-related renal stress, making annual checks worthwhile from age 30.
What conditions can Rgu & Mcu help diagnose?
These tests help diagnose urethral strictures, injuries, bladder outlet obstruction, and vesicoureteral reflux. Abnormal results can stem from prior injuries, infections, scarring, surgery, or certain medications and medical conditions. A family history of congenital urinary tract problems or repeated childhood infections may make these tests more important.
What do Rgu & Mcu results mean?
Results are interpreted in context, not in isolation. GetVisit shows your measured value next to the laboratory reference range, and your doctor reads it together with your clinical picture and any earlier results. See the FAQs below for what typical high or low values can mean for this test.
How often should Rgu & Mcu be repeated?
Adults with no risk factors and a normal result: annually from age 30. Diabetics and hypertensives: at least once a year, often every 6 months. Patients with known kidney disease: at the interval set by their nephrologist. Anyone starting a drug cleared by the kidneys: at baseline and periodically thereafter.
What happens after your Rgu & Mcu results are ready?
Once your results appear in your GetVisit profile, discuss them with your doctor or a GetVisit-verified specialist. Your doctor will interpret each value in the context of your full health history, current medications, and symptoms, and advise on the next step: lifestyle change, repeat testing, medication adjustment, or specialist referral. All GetVisit reports are stored permanently and can be shared with any doctor instantly.
