What is a NT-NB Scan (Twins) Test in Thane ?
What is NT-NB Scan (Twins)?
An NT-NB scan measures two early fetal features by ultrasound: nuchal translucency (fluid at the back of the fetal neck) and the fetal nasal bone. These measurements are important because they are markers that help estimate the risk of chromosomal conditions such as Down syndrome (trisomy 21) and other anomalies.
What does NT-NB Scan (Twins) show?
In twins, each fetus is measured individually, which takes more time and skill. Results are used with maternal blood tests and pregnancy dating to give a combined risk estimate. Abnormal findings do not diagnose a condition but guide the need for further testing and specialist counseling. The scan is typically done between 11 and 13 weeks and 6 days of pregnancy.
What symptoms suggest NT-NB Scan (Twins) may be needed?
A doctor may recommend NT-NB Scan (Twins) when a patient reports localised pain, swelling, or injury, a lump or restricted movement, or an abnormal finding on an earlier test that needs to be examined directly. In Thane, you can book this test online with home collection available in Kasarvadavali, Kopri, and beyond.
How is NT-NB Scan (Twins) done?
This is an imaging scan, not a blood or fluid test, so no sample is collected. A qualified radiographer positions you at an accredited GetVisit-partnered imaging centre in Kasarvadavali or Kopri, Thane and captures the images in a few minutes. A radiologist reviews them and your report is made available through GetVisit.
How accurate is NT-NB Scan (Twins)?
GetVisit partners only with accredited imaging centres in and around Kasarvadavali, Kopri, and Thane that use maintained, calibrated equipment and qualified radiographers. Every scan is interpreted by a qualified radiologist, and reports are accepted by hospital networks, specialists, and insurers across India.
Are there any risks to NT-NB Scan (Twins)?
Imaging is safe and non-invasive. Ultrasound and MRI use no ionising radiation; X-ray and CT use carefully controlled low doses justified by the diagnostic benefit. Inform staff at the Kasarvadavali or Kopri, Thane centre if you are pregnant or have implants or metal devices, so precautions can be taken.
Did you know?
An NT (nuchal translucency) ultrasound at about 11–14 weeks commonly identifies twin pregnancies, determines chorionicity/amnionicity, and measures a separate NT for each fetus.

Why Take a NT-NB Scan (Twins) Test in Thane ?
When does a doctor order NT-NB Scan (Twins)?
NT-NB Scan (Twins) is part of first‑trimester combined screening and checks each twin for early markers of chromosomal problems. Doctors order it for routine screening, advanced maternal age, abnormal blood screening, or a family history of genetic conditions.
Who should get NT-NB Scan (Twins) done in Thane?
Thane's fast-growing population, monsoon flooding driving leptospirosis and dengue in Mumbra, Kalwa, and Diva, heavy commute and stress burden, and rising diabetes and cardiovascular rates make regular preventive diagnostic testing an essential health investment for residents across the city. Those who benefit most from NT-NB Scan (Twins) include patients needing structural assessment that bloodwork cannot provide, and anyone under surveillance for a previously detected abnormality in Thane.
What can NT-NB Scan (Twins) help detect?
It helps detect increased risk for Down syndrome and other anomalies. Abnormal results can come from chromosomal changes, structural differences, poor dating, or maternal factors and usually lead to further testing and counseling.
What do NT-NB Scan (Twins) results mean?
An imaging report describes what the scan shows and whether it is normal or reveals a specific finding. A qualified radiologist interprets the images, and your doctor explains what any finding means for you and whether a further test or treatment is needed. The FAQs below cover what this scan can and cannot show.
How often should NT-NB Scan (Twins) be repeated?
For preventive screening with a normal baseline: annually for most adults above 35. For monitoring a known condition: at the interval your specialist recommends , typically every 3 to 6 months for active conditions and annually for stable, well-controlled ones.
What happens after NT-NB Scan (Twins) results are ready?
Book a follow-up consultation after reviewing your results. GetVisit stores your reports alongside your previous test history, so your doctor sees your full health trend, not just today's snapshot. This longitudinal context significantly improves the clinical value of each repeat test.
