What is a MRI SCAN LEFT CP ANGLE(PTAM) SCREENING Test in Chandigarh ?
What is MRI SCAN LEFT CP ANGLE(PTAM) SCREENING?
An MRI of the left cerebellopontine (CP) angle creates detailed pictures of the small space near the brainstem and inner ear. It shows nerves, the cerebellum edge, and surrounding tissue. It is non-invasive and shows internal structures directly, providing information that blood and urine tests cannot.
What does PTAM show?
This area contains nerves for hearing and facial movement. The scan helps find tumors, cysts, or nerve compression. It also detects changes from inflammation or blood vessel problems. Doctors use the images to explain symptoms, plan surgery or radiation, and monitor known lesions over time.
What symptoms suggest PTAM may be needed?
PTAM is generally requested as part of a imaging assessment. Doctors commonly investigate this area when someone reports localised pain, swelling, or injury, a lump or restricted movement, or an abnormal finding on an earlier test that needs to be examined directly. Whether PTAM specifically is the right test depends on your history and what your doctor is looking for. GetVisit makes testing convenient in Chandigarh, with partner-lab slots and home collection offered in many areas including Manimajra and Sector 11.
How is PTAM done?
This is an imaging scan, not a blood or fluid test, so no sample is collected. A qualified radiographer positions you at an accredited GetVisit-partnered imaging centre in Manimajra or Sector 11, Chandigarh and captures the images in a few minutes. A radiologist reviews them and your report is made available through GetVisit.
How accurate is PTAM?
Image quality and interpretation are the two pillars of accuracy. GetVisit's accredited centres serving Manimajra and Sector 11, Chandigarh maintain modern equipment, and a qualified radiologist reviews each study before the report is issued.
Are there any risks to PTAM?
Imaging is safe and non-invasive. Ultrasound and MRI use no ionising radiation; X-ray and CT use carefully controlled low doses justified by the diagnostic benefit. Inform staff at the Manimajra or Sector 11, Chandigarh centre if you are pregnant or have implants or metal devices, so precautions can be taken.
Did you know?
The test is noninvasive and gives clear information that other exams may miss.

What to bring:
Bring your doctor's referral, a valid photo ID, your insurance card if using cashless OPD, and any previous scans or reports so the radiologist can compare.

Why Take a MRI SCAN LEFT CP ANGLE(PTAM) SCREENING Test in Chandigarh ?
When does a doctor order MRI SCAN LEFT CP ANGLE(PTAM) SCREENING?
MRI SCAN LEFT CP ANGLE(PTAM) SCREENING is typically ordered as a focused head MRI when symptoms suggest a problem near the inner ear and brainstem. It is used when patients have hearing loss, ringing in the ear, balance problems, facial numbness, or unexplained headaches.
Who should get PTAM done in Chandigarh?
Chandigarh's administrative, education and IT workforce, rich regional diet driving high diabetes and cardiovascular prevalence, winter air pollution, and large student population make regular preventive testing worthwhile citywide. Imaging benefits patients with pain, swelling, a palpable lump, injury, or an abnormal earlier finding, as well as those monitoring a known condition. GetVisit helps residents of Manimajra, Sector 11, and across Chandigarh book accredited imaging with clear pricing.
What can PTAM help detect?
The scan helps diagnose tumors (like vestibular schwannoma), cysts, inflammation, or vascular issues. Abnormal findings are usually caused by growths, infection, or structural changes, and a family history of nerve tumors can make this screening more important.
What do PTAM results mean?
Findings are graded from normal to significant, and comparison with any previous scan shows whether a known finding is stable, improving, or progressing. Your doctor explains the report in the context of your symptoms. See the FAQs below for more detail on this scan.
How often should PTAM be repeated?
For preventive screening with a normal baseline: annually for most adults above 35. For monitoring a known condition: at the interval your specialist recommends, typically every 3 to 6 months for active conditions and annually for stable, well-controlled ones.
What happens after your PTAM results are ready?
After the lab authorises your results, the report is uploaded to your GetVisit account and saved for future comparison. If anything falls outside the expected range, your doctor can advise whether it needs a repeat test, a lifestyle change, or a specialist opinion.
