What is a MRI Scan Defecography Test in Vijayawada ?
What is MRI Scan Defecography?
MRI scan defecography is an imaging test that watches the rectum and pelvic floor while you strain and pass stool. It measures how muscles, rectum, and surrounding structures move and close during bowel movements.
What does MRI Scan Defecography show?
This information is important to find mechanical or functional problems that cause constipation, obstructed emptying, rectocele, prolapse, or fecal leakage. Doctors use the results to plan treatment, decide on physical therapy or surgery, and track recovery after operations. The test shows both anatomy and movement, so it can find issues that static scans miss. It is noninvasive and gives detailed pictures without X-rays.
What symptoms suggest MRI Scan Defecography may be needed?
MRI Scan Defecography is generally requested as part of a imaging assessment. Doctors commonly investigate this area when someone reports localised pain, swelling, or injury, a lump or restricted movement, or an abnormal finding on an earlier test that needs to be examined directly. Whether MRI Scan Defecography specifically is the right test depends on your history and what your doctor is looking for. Sample collection for Vijayawada is available at partner labs, with home collection in many areas including Kanuru and Machavaram; you can confirm availability for your address at booking.
How is MRI Scan Defecography done?
This is an imaging scan, not a blood or fluid test, so no sample is collected. A qualified radiographer positions you at an accredited GetVisit-partnered imaging centre in Kanuru or Machavaram, Vijayawada and captures the images in a few minutes. A radiologist reviews them and your report is made available through GetVisit.
How accurate is MRI Scan Defecography?
GetVisit partners only with accredited imaging centres in and around Kanuru, Machavaram, and Vijayawada that use maintained, calibrated equipment and qualified radiographers. Every scan is interpreted by a qualified radiologist, and reports are accepted by hospital networks, specialists, and insurers across India.
Are there any risks to MRI Scan Defecography?
Imaging is safe and non-invasive. Ultrasound and MRI use no ionising radiation; X-ray and CT use carefully controlled low doses justified by the diagnostic benefit. Inform staff at the Kanuru or Machavaram, Vijayawada centre if you are pregnant or have implants or metal devices, so precautions can be taken.
Did you know?
An MRI defecography typically takes about 20-45 minutes in total.

Why Take a MRI Scan Defecography Test in Vijayawada ?
When does a doctor order MRI Scan Defecography?
MRI Scan Defecography is used in pelvic floor assessment panels when doctors suspect defecation problems. It is ordered for symptoms such as chronic constipation, straining, feeling of incomplete emptying, pelvic bulge, or fecal incontinence.
Who should get MRI Scan Defecography done in Vijayawada?
Vijayawada's river-side geography and monsoon flooding, extreme summer heat raising dehydration and stone risk, rice-heavy diet driving high diabetes prevalence, and busy trade economy make regular preventive testing worthwhile. Those who benefit most from MRI Scan Defecography include patients needing structural assessment that bloodwork cannot provide, and anyone under surveillance for a previously detected abnormality in Vijayawada.
What can MRI Scan Defecography help detect?
The test helps diagnose rectocele, intussusception, prolapse, and muscle coordination problems. Abnormal results can come from childbirth injuries, prior pelvic surgery, chronic straining, obesity, or connective tissue weakness. A family history of pelvic organ prolapse or connective tissue disorders may make this test more important.
What do MRI Scan Defecography results mean?
Findings are graded from normal to significant, and comparison with any previous scan shows whether a known finding is stable, improving, or progressing. Your doctor explains the report in the context of your symptoms. See the FAQs below for more detail on this scan.
How often should MRI Scan Defecography be repeated?
For preventive screening with a normal baseline: annually for most adults above 35. For monitoring a known condition: at the interval your specialist recommends, typically every 3 to 6 months for active conditions and annually for stable, well-controlled ones.
What happens after your MRI Scan Defecography results are ready?
Once your results appear in your GetVisit profile, discuss them with your doctor or a GetVisit-verified specialist. Your doctor will interpret each value in the context of your full health history, current medications, and symptoms, and advise on the next step: lifestyle change, repeat testing, medication adjustment, or specialist referral. All GetVisit reports are stored permanently and can be shared with any doctor instantly.
