MRI Dorsolumbar Spine, in Vasai Virar

A dorsolumbar spine MRI is a noninvasive imaging scan that uses magnetic fields and radio waves to produce detailed cross‑sectional images of the thoracic (dorsal) and lumbar spine, including vertebrae, intervertebral discs, spinal cord and nerve roots. It helps diagnose causes of back pain, trauma, degenerative disease, infection, inflammation or tumours, and may use contrast to better visualise pathology.

A dorsal spine MRI is a magnetic resonance scan of the thoracic (mid‑back) spine that produces detailed images of vertebrae, discs, spinal cord, nerve roots and surrounding soft tissues. It’s used to investigate mid‑back pain, trauma, suspected disc herniation, spinal cord compression, infection, inflammation or tumors. The non‑invasive test uses magnets and radio waves, may involve contrast dye, and requires lying still for 20–60 minutes.

An MRI of the lumbar spine visualizes vertebrae, intervertebral discs, the spinal canal, nerve roots, ligaments and surrounding soft tissues. It detects disc degeneration and herniation, spinal stenosis, nerve compression, inflammation, infection, bone marrow changes, fractures, tumors and post‑surgical scarring. It helps correlate structural abnormalities with symptoms to guide diagnosis and treatment planning.

Costs vary by country and facility. In India a lumbar MRI typically costs about ₹2,000–₹8,000. In the UK private scans run roughly £200–£700; public system scans are free when referred. In the US self‑pay prices commonly range $400–$3,500; insured patients usually pay a smaller co‑pay or deductible. Contrast-enhanced scans cost extra.

The dorsolumbar spine is the region where the thoracic (dorsal) and lumbar segments meet — the thoracolumbar junction (roughly T10–L2, most commonly T12–L1). It includes lower thoracic and upper lumbar vertebrae. This transition zone endures high mechanical stress and is a common site for fractures, degenerative changes, and other spinal pathology affecting the mid-to-lower back.

Spine MRI costs vary by country and setting. In the US an uninsured MRI typically ranges about $400–$3,500 (higher with hospital or contrast). In the UK it’s free on the NHS or about £200–£700 privately. In India typical private prices are roughly ₹2,500–₹10,000. Final cost depends on contrast use, number of levels, facility type, and radiologist/report fees.
