When does a doctor order MIBG Scan?

MIBG Scan is a nuclear medicine imaging study often ordered when neuroendocrine tumors are suspected. It is used when symptoms like unexplained high blood pressure, rapid heartbeat, headaches, or an abdominal mass appear, and when doctors need to locate, stage, or follow tumors such as pheochromocytoma, paraganglioma, or neuroblastoma.

Who should get MIBG Scan done in Jodhpur?

Jodhpur's desert climate with extreme summer heat and hard water raising stone risk, ghee-rich Marwari diet driving diabetes and heart disease, and tourism and trade economy make regular preventive testing worthwhile citywide. Imaging benefits patients with pain, swelling, a palpable lump, injury, or an abnormal earlier finding, as well as those monitoring a known condition. GetVisit helps residents of Banar Road, Shastri Nagar, and across Jodhpur book accredited imaging with clear pricing.

What can MIBG Scan help detect?

The conditions diagnosable through MIBG Scan depend on the specific markers the test measures. Results either confirm a suspected diagnosis, support a clinical suspicion requiring further investigation, or effectively exclude the condition the test was screening for. Abnormal results come from tumor uptake or from interfering medications and prior iodine exposure. A family history of inherited neuroendocrine tumors may make this scan especially important.

What do MIBG Scan results mean?

An imaging report describes what the scan shows and whether it is normal or reveals a specific finding. A qualified radiologist interprets the images, and your doctor explains what any finding means for you and whether a further test or treatment is needed. The FAQs below cover what this scan can and cannot show.

How often should MIBG Scan be repeated?

For preventive screening with a normal baseline: annually for most adults above 35. For monitoring a known condition: at the interval your specialist recommends, typically every 3 to 6 months for active conditions and annually for stable, well-controlled ones.

What happens after your MIBG Scan results are ready?

Your GetVisit digital report is delivered to your phone as soon as results are authorised.
