What is a Magnetic Resonance Elastography (MRE) Test in Thane ?
What is MAGNETIC RESONANCE ELASTOGRAPHY (MRE)?
Magnetic Resonance Elastography (MRE) measures how stiff tissues are inside the body. It uses an MRI machine plus gentle vibrations to map tissue stiffness. It is non-invasive and shows internal structures directly, providing information that blood and urine tests cannot.
What does MAGNETIC RESONANCE ELASTOGRAPHY (MRE) show?
Stiffness is important because it often rises when organs develop scarring or fibrosis. MRE is most commonly used for the liver to detect and stage fibrosis and cirrhosis. It can reduce the need for invasive liver biopsy. Doctors use MRE to help diagnose liver disease, guide treatment choices, and monitor response over time.
What symptoms suggest MAGNETIC RESONANCE ELASTOGRAPHY (MRE) may be needed?
A doctor may recommend MAGNETIC RESONANCE ELASTOGRAPHY (MRE) when a patient reports localised pain, swelling, or injury, a lump or restricted movement, or an abnormal finding on an earlier test that needs to be examined directly. In Thane, you can book this test online with home collection available in Waghbil, Naupada, and beyond.
How is MAGNETIC RESONANCE ELASTOGRAPHY (MRE) done?
No needle or sample is involved. At an accredited imaging centre serving Waghbil and Naupada, Thane, a radiographer performs the scan, which is painless and usually completed within 10 to 15 minutes. A qualified radiologist interprets the images and issues a report you can access on GetVisit. (Home collection does not apply to imaging.)
How accurate is MAGNETIC RESONANCE ELASTOGRAPHY (MRE)?
GetVisit partners only with accredited imaging centres in and around Waghbil, Naupada, and Thane that use maintained, calibrated equipment and qualified radiographers. Every scan is interpreted by a qualified radiologist, and reports are accepted by hospital networks, specialists, and insurers across India.
Are there any risks to MAGNETIC RESONANCE ELASTOGRAPHY (MRE)?
Imaging is safe and non-invasive. Ultrasound and MRI use no ionising radiation; X-ray and CT use carefully controlled low doses justified by the diagnostic benefit. Inform staff at the Waghbil or Naupada, Thane centre if you are pregnant or have implants or metal devices, so precautions can be taken.
Did you know?
MRE is highly accurate and reproducible for detecting and staging liver fibrosis, especially advanced fibrosis and cirrhosis, with sensitivity and specificity commonly above 90%.

Fasting and dietary instructions:
Most imaging scans need no fasting. Some abdominal ultrasounds require a few hours of fasting or a full bladder, so follow the specific instruction shown when you book, or ask the centre.

Why Take a Magnetic Resonance Elastography (MRE) Test in Thane ?
When does a doctor order MAGNETIC RESONANCE ELASTOGRAPHY (MRE)?
MAGNETIC RESONANCE ELASTOGRAPHY (MRE) is an imaging test usually ordered as part of liver assessment for patients with abnormal liver blood tests, fatty liver, or long-term hepatitis. It helps detect and stage fibrosis and cirrhosis and can monitor disease progression or treatment response.
Who should get MAGNETIC RESONANCE ELASTOGRAPHY (MRE) done in Thane?
Thane's fast-growing population, monsoon flooding driving leptospirosis and dengue in Mumbra, Kalwa, and Diva, heavy commute and stress burden, and rising diabetes and cardiovascular rates make regular preventive diagnostic testing an essential health investment for residents across the city. Those who benefit most from MAGNETIC RESONANCE ELASTOGRAPHY (MRE) include patients needing structural assessment that bloodwork cannot provide, and anyone under surveillance for a previously detected abnormality in Thane.
What can MAGNETIC RESONANCE ELASTOGRAPHY (MRE) help detect?
Abnormal results often come from chronic liver diseases, alcohol use, metabolic fatty liver, or inflammation. A family history of liver disease may prompt earlier or repeated testing.
What do MAGNETIC RESONANCE ELASTOGRAPHY (MRE) results mean?
An imaging report describes what the scan shows and whether it is normal or reveals a specific finding. A qualified radiologist interprets the images, and your doctor explains what any finding means for you and whether a further test or treatment is needed. The FAQs below cover what this scan can and cannot show.
How often should MAGNETIC RESONANCE ELASTOGRAPHY (MRE) be repeated?
For preventive screening with a normal baseline: annually for most adults above 35. For monitoring a known condition: at the interval your specialist recommends , typically every 3 to 6 months for active conditions and annually for stable, well-controlled ones.
What happens after MAGNETIC RESONANCE ELASTOGRAPHY (MRE) results are ready?
Once your results appear in your GetVisit profile, discuss them with your doctor or a GetVisit-verified specialist. Your doctor will interpret each value in the context of your full health history, current medications, and symptoms, and advise on the next step: lifestyle change, repeat testing, medication adjustment, or specialist referral. All GetVisit reports are stored permanently and can be shared with any doctor instantly.
