Most people feel only light pressure or brief discomfort as the transducer presses the skin and ribcage; the exam lasts minutes and requires no anaesthetic. Some with tender or enlarged livers may experience momentary pain, but serious complications are rare. Results assess liver stiffness without biopsy risks.
