What is a Lipid Ratios Test?
Lipid ratios measure relationships between different fats in your blood, such as total cholesterol to HDL and LDL to HDL. These ratios help show how well your body is handling cholesterol and fats. They are important because they give a clearer picture of heart and blood vessel risk than single numbers alone. Abnormal ratios are linked to a higher chance of heart attack, stroke, and artery disease. Doctors use these ratios with other risk factors to estimate your cardiovascular risk, decide on lifestyle changes, and guide medicines like statins.
