What is a I.V.P. (5 Plates) Test in Indore ?
What is I.V.P. (5 Plates)?
(intravenous pyelogram) is an X-ray exam that uses injected contrast dye to show the kidneys, ureters, and bladder. It measures the shape, size, and how well urine flows through the urinary tract. It is particularly important for people with diabetes or hypertension , the two leading causes of chronic kidney disease in India, responsible for over 60% of cases requiring dialysis.
What does I.V.P. (5 Plates) measure?
Multiple X-ray images are taken over time to follow the dye as it moves. This helps reveal blockages, kidney stones, tumors, strictures, and congenital differences. Doctors use IVP to investigate blood in the urine, persistent flank pain, repeated urinary infections, or unexplained kidney test changes. The test can guide treatment, assist surgical planning, and monitor recovery after injury.
What symptoms suggest I.V.P. (5 Plates) may be needed?
A doctor may recommend I.V.P. (5 Plates) when a patient reports ankle or leg swelling, reduced urine output, frothy or foamy urine, persistent fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, persistent itching, muscle cramps, and high blood pressure. Sample collection for Indore is available at labs and at home across Nipania, LIG Colony, and surrounding neighbourhoods.
How is I.V.P. (5 Plates) performed?
No needle is involved. For home service in Nipania or LIG Colony, Indore, GetVisit delivers a sterile container, you provide a clean mid-stream urine sample, and a certified agent collects and transports it to the NABL lab under proper conditions. Your report appears in the GetVisit app when results are authorised.
How accurate is I.V.P. (5 Plates)?
Urine results are reliable when the sample is collected cleanly and transported quickly. GetVisit's Indore network handles prompt, temperature-appropriate transport from Nipania or LIG Colony to the NABL lab, and quality control is independently audited by NABL.
Are there any risks to I.V.P. (5 Plates)?
There is no medical risk. Providing a urine sample is completely non-invasive, with no needle and no discomfort. The only thing to get right is a clean collection: follow the container instructions to avoid contamination that could affect the result. Home collection in Nipania or LIG Colony, Indore is just as safe as visiting a lab.
Did you know?
Patients are screened for allergies and kidney function before dye is given because the contrast has risks.
I.V.P. (5 Plates) Test Preparation in Indore

Your medicines:
Tell your doctor if you take painkillers such as ibuprofen or diclofenac, or ACE inhibitors, as these can nudge kidney readings; a short, safe pause may be advised.

Carry your test requisition, a government-issued ID, and any previous reports so results can be compared over time.
Booking your slot:

Why Take a I.V.P. (5 Plates) Test in Indore ?
When does a doctor order I.V.P. (5 Plates)?
(5 Plates) is an imaging study used to evaluate the urinary tract. It is ordered when patients have blood in the urine, flank pain, repeated urinary infections, suspected obstruction, or abnormal kidney tests.
Who should get I.V.P. (5 Plates) done in Indore?
Indore's hot, dry summers with temperatures above 42°C contribute to dehydration and kidney-stone risk, particularly for residents of Rau, Mhow Naka, and the industrial fringes who work long hours with low water intake. Kidney testing matters most for people with diabetes or high blood pressure, a family history of kidney disease, recurrent kidney stones, or long-term use of painkillers such as ibuprofen or diclofenac. In Indore, residents of Palasia, Bengali Square, and areas with variable water quality or high summer heat face added dehydration-related renal stress, making annual checks worthwhile from age 30.
What conditions can I.V.P. (5 Plates) help diagnose?
The exam helps detect stones, tumors, strictures, and congenital abnormalities. Abnormal results may come from infections, stones, tumors, scar tissue, or reduced kidney function, and some medications can affect findings. A family history of urinary tract problems may make this test more important.
What do I.V.P. (5 Plates) results mean?
Your result is read against the reference range printed on your GetVisit report for your age and sex, and always alongside your symptoms and history. A single value slightly outside the range does not by itself confirm a problem, your doctor decides whether it is significant. The specific high and low patterns for this test are explained in the FAQs below.
How often should I.V.P. (5 Plates) be repeated?
Adults with no risk factors and a normal result: annually from age 30. Diabetics and hypertensives: at least once a year, often every 6 months. Patients with known kidney disease: at the interval set by their nephrologist. Anyone starting a drug cleared by the kidneys: at baseline and periodically thereafter.
What happens after I.V.P. (5 Plates) results are ready?
You will be notified the moment results are ready, usually the same day for routine tests. Open the report in the GetVisit app to see each value beside its reference range, share it with your doctor in a tap, or book a specialist consultation to talk it through.
