HUTT Head Upright Tilt Test, in Pimpri Chinchwad

The head-up tilt test (HUTT) is a diagnostic procedure for unexplained fainting and suspected vasovagal or orthostatic syncope. While lying on a motorized table, you’re tilted upright to monitor heart rate and blood pressure; drugs or prolonged tilt may be used to provoke symptoms. A positive test reproduces symptoms with characteristic blood-pressure or heart-rate changes. It’s generally safe under medical supervision.

A positive head‑up tilt test means that tilting reproduced the patient’s symptoms along with characteristic changes in blood pressure and/or heart rate, indicating abnormal autonomic control of circulation. It supports diagnoses such as vasovagal syncope, orthostatic hypotension, or POTS depending on whether blood pressure falls or heart rate rises, and helps guide treatment and further evaluation.

An abnormal HUTT (head‑up tilt) test shows an exaggerated autonomic response to upright posture causing presyncope or syncope. Results commonly indicate neurally mediated (vasovagal) syncope, orthostatic intolerance/POTS, or orthostatic hypotension. Response patterns include vasodepressor (blood pressure drop), cardioinhibitory (bradycardia/asystole), or mixed, guiding fluid/salt measures, counter‑maneuvers, medications, or further cardiac evaluation.

A HUT (head‑up tilt) test evaluates unexplained fainting or orthostatic intolerance. You lie on a motorized table that tilts you upright while blood pressure, heart rate and ECG are continuously monitored to reproduce symptoms. It helps diagnose vasovagal syncope, orthostatic hypotension and POTS; pharmacologic agents or lower‑body suction may be used to increase sensitivity. The procedure is supervised and reversible.

Before a head‑up tilt (HUTT) test: follow your clinic’s instructions about stopping certain medications (especially blood‑pressure, heart‑rate or vasoactive drugs). Don’t eat for 4–6 hours and avoid caffeine, nicotine and alcohol for 24 hours. Wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring a list of medications. Expect IV access and monitoring; arrange someone to drive you home if you may feel faint.

HUTT stands for Head Up Tilt Test (also called head up tilt table test). It is a diagnostic procedure for evaluating unexplained fainting (syncope) or orthostatic intolerance. The patient lies on a motorized table that tilts upright while clinicians monitor blood pressure, heart rate and symptoms to provoke and record reflex responses. It helps diagnose vasovagal syncope and autonomic nervous system disorders.
