Hrct Scan Pns Axial, in Vasai Virar

A CT scan PNS (paranasal sinuses) images the sinuses and surrounding bone to diagnose and stage sinusitis, chronic or recurrent infections, nasal polyps, anatomical variants before surgery, facial trauma, suspected tumors or fungal disease, and complications like orbital or intracranial spread. It provides detailed views of air cells, mucosal thickening, bony anatomy, and blockage of sinus drainage pathways.

An HRCT scan of the nose and paranasal sinuses is a high-resolution computed tomography exam that produces detailed cross-sectional images of sinuses, nasal cavity and surrounding bone. It identifies sinusitis, polyps, anatomical variants, fractures and bony disease, and aids surgical planning. The test uses thin slices without contrast, involves low-to-moderate radiation, is quick, and needs minimal preparation.

Routine CT of the paranasal sinuses (non-contrast) does not require fasting — you may eat and take medications as usual. If IV contrast is planned, many centers ask for 4–6 hours of fasting and assessment of kidney function and allergy history. Always follow your radiology department’s instructions and inform staff about pregnancy, diabetes, kidney disease, or medication use.

A PNS axial coronal sagittal CT scan is a computed tomography examination of the paranasal sinuses using axial, coronal and sagittal image planes. It provides detailed cross-sectional views of sinus anatomy, the ostiomeatal complex, bony structures and adjacent orbits/skull base to detect sinusitis, polyps, mucoceles, tumors, fractures or congenital variants, guiding diagnosis and surgical planning.

A PNS CT scan is generally not painful. It’s a quick, noninvasive imaging test where you lie still while the scanner moves around your head. You may feel mild discomfort from staying still, nasal sprays, or a contrast injection (brief sting), and some people experience anxiety or claustrophobia. Technicians can help with comfort measures; serious complications are rare.

Cost of a CT PNS (paranasal sinuses) varies widely. In India private centres it typically ranges ₹800–₹4,000. In the UK scans are free on the NHS; private scans usually cost about £100–£400. In the USA self-pay prices commonly range $300–$3,000 depending on facility, use of contrast, and whether it’s outpatient, emergency or private imaging centre.
