Full Body MRI Scan, in Navi Mumbai

A full-body MRI typically covers the head and brain, neck, chest (mediastinum and major vessels), abdomen, pelvis, spine, and major bones and soft tissues. It often includes diffusion-weighted imaging for lesion detection, fat-suppressed and contrast-enhanced sequences, and MR angiography to assess blood vessels and lymph nodes. Cardiac or dedicated lung imaging may need additional focused scans.

In India, a full‑body MRI typically costs between ₹8,000 and ₹30,000 depending on city and facility. Use of higher‑field (3T) scanners, contrast agents, detailed radiologist reporting, and screening packages can raise fees to ₹40,000–₹50,000. Public hospitals tend to be cheaper; private diagnostic chains and specialized screening services charge more. Confirm whether contrast, radiologist fees, and reports are included.

Full-body MRI can detect abnormalities without radiation but isn't generally recommended for healthy people because evidence is limited, false positives are common, and benefits on mortality are unproven. It may help specific high‑risk individuals (genetic syndromes) or for targeted symptom evaluation. Discuss potential harms, costs, and possible follow‑up testing with a clinician before choosing screening.

In Bangalore, a basic full-body health checkup costs around ₹1,000–₹5,000; comprehensive executive packages ₹5,000–₹15,000. Whole-body CT scans typically cost ₹6,000–₹20,000; whole-body MRI ₹15,000–₹50,000. Final price depends on hospital, tests/imaging included, and whether it's diagnostic or preventive—call facilities for exact quotes. Compare inclusions, ask about home sample-collection fees, and if specialist consultation is included.

Costs vary widely. In the United States private whole‑body MRI scans typically range from about $500 to $3,500 (often $1,000–$2,500). In the UK the NHS rarely offers screening whole‑body MRI; private clinics charge roughly £400–£1,200. In India prices commonly run about ₹10,000–₹40,000. Final price depends on contrast use, facility, and whether it’s diagnostic or screening.

A full‑body MRI usually takes about 30–90 minutes. Simpler scans can be completed in roughly 30–45 minutes; comprehensive or contrast‑enhanced studies often require 60–90 minutes. Total time varies with scanner strength, imaging sequences, need for contrast, patient size or movement, breath‑hold requirements, and whether sedation or extra positioning is needed. Ask your imaging centre for an expected duration.
