When does a doctor order EMG and NCV Both Upper Limbs?

EMG and NCV Both Upper Limbs are neurophysiology tests often ordered together when patients have arm numbness, tingling, weakness, pain, or unexplained muscle changes. They help pinpoint whether symptoms come from nerve compression, nerve damage, nerve root problems, or muscle disease.

Who should get EMG and NCV Both Upper Limbs done in Mysuru?

Mysuru's growing IT and industrial corridor, large education sector, rice-based diet driving diabetes and heart disease, and monsoon infection season make regular preventive diagnostic testing a sound habit citywide. Those who benefit most from EMG and NCV Both Upper Limbs include patients with recurrent or treatment-resistant infections, suspicious lesions, or symptoms that routine blood tests have not explained. A precise sample-based diagnosis in Mysuru allows treatment to be matched exactly to the cause.

What conditions can EMG and NCV Both Upper Limbs help diagnose?

The conditions diagnosable through EMG and NCV Both Upper Limbs depend on the specific markers the test measures. Results either confirm a suspected diagnosis, support a clinical suspicion requiring further investigation, or effectively exclude the condition the test was screening for. Abnormal results can be caused by diabetes, injury, repetitive strain, inflammation, toxins, or certain medications. A family history of hereditary neuropathy or muscle disease may make this testing more important.

What do EMG and NCV Both Upper Limbs results mean?

Higher or positive results: A positive EMG indicates abnormal electrical activity in muscles, confirming nerve or muscle dysfunction. Your doctor reads the value against the reference range on your report and your symptoms, and may repeat a borderline result to confirm it.

How often should EMG and NCV Both Upper Limbs be repeated?

For preventive screening with a normal baseline: annually for most adults above 35. For monitoring a known condition: at the interval your specialist recommends, typically every 3 to 6 months for active conditions and annually for stable, well-controlled ones.

What happens after your EMG and NCV Both Upper Limbs results are ready?

You will be notified as soon as the laboratory releases your results, usually within 24 to 48 hours. Open the report in the GetVisit app to see each value beside its reference range, share it with your doctor in a tap, or book a specialist consultation to talk it through.
