What is a CT Scan Sialogram Test in Madurai ?
What is CT Scan Sialogram?
A CT sialogram is an imaging exam that shows the salivary glands and their ducts. It uses a small contrast dye injected into a salivary duct and a CT scan to create detailed pictures. It is non-invasive and shows internal structures directly, providing information that blood and urine tests cannot.
What does CT Scan Sialogram show?
The test helps doctors see blockages, stones, narrow areas, infections, and unusual growths. Saliva is important for chewing, swallowing, and protecting teeth. Problems with the glands can cause pain, swelling, dry mouth, or repeated infections. Doctors use this test when symptoms point to a gland or duct problem.
What symptoms suggest CT Scan Sialogram may be needed?
CT Scan Sialogram is generally requested as part of a imaging assessment. Doctors commonly investigate this area when someone reports localised pain, swelling, or injury, a lump or restricted movement, or an abnormal finding on an earlier test that needs to be examined directly. Whether CT Scan Sialogram specifically is the right test depends on your history and what your doctor is looking for. GetVisit makes testing convenient in Madurai, with partner-lab slots and home collection offered in many areas including Villapuram and Palanganatham.
How is CT Scan Sialogram done?
This is an imaging scan, not a blood or fluid test, so no sample is collected. A qualified radiographer positions you at an accredited GetVisit-partnered imaging centre in Villapuram or Palanganatham, Madurai and captures the images in a few minutes. A radiologist reviews them and your report is made available through GetVisit.
How accurate is CT Scan Sialogram?
Image quality and interpretation are the two pillars of accuracy. GetVisit's accredited centres serving Villapuram and Palanganatham, Madurai maintain modern equipment, and a qualified radiologist reviews each study before the report is issued.
Are there any risks to CT Scan Sialogram?
Imaging is safe and non-invasive. Ultrasound and MRI use no ionising radiation; X-ray and CT use carefully controlled low doses justified by the diagnostic benefit. Inform staff at the Villapuram or Palanganatham, Madurai centre if you are pregnant or have implants or metal devices, so precautions can be taken.

A CT sialogram is a specialized imaging test of the salivary glands and ducts where a small catheter injects contrast into the duct and a CT scan captures detailed images.
CT Scan Sialogram Test Preparation in Madurai
Fasting and dietary instructions:
Most imaging scans need no fasting. Some abdominal ultrasounds require a few hours of fasting or a full bladder, so follow the specific instruction shown when you book, or ask the centre.
Medication guidance:
Continue your regular medication unless told otherwise. Tell the centre if you have diabetes, kidney problems, or allergies, especially if a contrast study is planned.
What to bring:
Bring your doctor's referral, a valid photo ID, your insurance card if using cashless OPD, and any previous scans or reports so the radiologist can compare.
Timing:
Book a slot that suits you at an accredited GetVisit centre in Villapuram or Iyer Bungalow, Madurai. Wear loose clothing without metal fasteners, and remove jewellery before the scan.

Why Take a CT Scan Sialogram Test in Madurai ?
When does a doctor order CT Scan Sialogram?
CT Scan Sialogram is an imaging procedure ordered when a patient has recurrent jaw or facial swelling, painful swelling with eating, chronic dry mouth, or repeated salivary infections. It is used alone rather than in a blood panel and helps confirm stones, duct narrowing, infections, tumors, or autoimmune gland problems.
Who should get CT Scan Sialogram done in Madurai?
Madurai's temple-city trade economy, rice-based diet driving high diabetes prevalence, intense summer heat, and northeast-monsoon infection season make regular preventive diagnostic testing a sound habit citywide. Those who benefit most from CT Scan Sialogram include patients needing structural assessment that bloodwork cannot provide, and anyone under surveillance for a previously detected abnormality in Madurai.
What can CT Scan Sialogram help detect?
Abnormal findings are caused by stones, infection, scarring, tumors, trauma, or autoimmune disease, and family history of autoimmune disorders may make the test more important.
What do CT Scan Sialogram results mean?
Findings are graded from normal to significant, and comparison with any previous scan shows whether a known finding is stable, improving, or progressing. Your doctor explains the report in the context of your symptoms. See the FAQs below for more detail on this scan.
How often should CT Scan Sialogram be repeated?
For preventive screening with a normal baseline: annually for most adults above 35. For monitoring a known condition: at the interval your specialist recommends, typically every 3 to 6 months for active conditions and annually for stable, well-controlled ones.
What happens after your CT Scan Sialogram results are ready?
Book a follow-up consultation after reviewing your results. GetVisit stores your reports alongside your previous test history, so your doctor sees your full health trend, not just today's snapshot. This longitudinal context significantly improves the clinical value of each repeat test.
