What is a CT Scan Pulmonary Angiography Test in Patna ?
What is CT Scan Pulmonary Angiography?
A CT Scan Pulmonary Angiography (CTPA) is an imaging exam that takes detailed pictures of the lung blood vessels. It uses injected contrast dye to show the pulmonary arteries and any blockages or clots.
What does CT Scan Pulmonary Angiography show?
This test is important because clots in the lungs can reduce oxygen and cause serious illness. CTPA helps detect pulmonary embolism, vessel narrowing, and some vascular malformations. Doctors use it to confirm or rule out a clot when symptoms suggest a problem. It also helps determine clot size and location, which guides treatment decisions like anticoagulation or procedures.
What symptoms suggest CT Scan Pulmonary Angiography may be needed?
A doctor may recommend CT Scan Pulmonary Angiography when a patient reports localised pain, swelling, or injury, a lump or restricted movement, or an abnormal finding on an earlier test that needs to be examined directly. Sample collection for Patna is available at labs and at home across Sheikhpura, Digha, and surrounding neighbourhoods.
How is CT Scan Pulmonary Angiography done?
No needle or sample is involved. At an accredited imaging centre serving Sheikhpura and Digha, Patna, a radiographer performs the scan, which is painless and usually completed within 10 to 15 minutes. A qualified radiologist interprets the images and issues a report you can access on GetVisit. (Home collection does not apply to imaging.)
How accurate is CT Scan Pulmonary Angiography?
Image quality and interpretation are the two pillars of accuracy. GetVisit's accredited centres serving Sheikhpura and Digha, Patna maintain modern equipment, and a qualified radiologist reviews each study before the report is issued.
Are there any risks to CT Scan Pulmonary Angiography?
A standard X-ray uses a very low dose of radiation considered safe for diagnostic use; ultrasound uses sound waves and involves no radiation at all. If you are or might be pregnant, tell the centre in Sheikhpura or Digha, Patna beforehand so the safest approach can be chosen. There is no needle and no recovery time.
Did you know?
The scan is fast, but requires attention to kidney function and contrast allergies.
CT Scan Pulmonary Angiography Test Preparation in Patna
Fasting and dietary instructions:
Most imaging scans need no fasting. Some abdominal ultrasounds require a few hours of fasting or a full bladder, so follow the specific instruction shown when you book, or ask the centre.
Medication guidance:
Continue your regular medication unless told otherwise. Tell the centre if you have diabetes, kidney problems, or allergies, especially if a contrast study is planned.
What to bring:
Bring your doctor's referral, a valid photo ID, your insurance card if using cashless OPD, and any previous scans or reports so the radiologist can compare.

Why Take a CT Scan Pulmonary Angiography Test in Patna ?
When does a doctor order CT Scan Pulmonary Angiography?
CT Scan Pulmonary Angiography is an imaging study usually ordered alone when doctors suspect a pulmonary embolism. It is commonly used if someone has sudden shortness of breath, unexplained chest pain, low oxygen, or fast heartbeat.
Who should get CT Scan Pulmonary Angiography done in Patna?
Patna's Ganga floodplain geography and monsoon waterborne-infection burden, widespread iron and vitamin deficiency, rising diabetes and cardiovascular disease, and hot summers make regular preventive diagnostic testing especially valuable for residents across the city. Imaging benefits patients with pain, swelling, a palpable lump, injury, or an abnormal earlier finding, as well as those monitoring a known condition. GetVisit helps residents of Sheikhpura, Digha, and across Patna book accredited imaging with clear pricing.
What can CT Scan Pulmonary Angiography help detect?
The test helps diagnose clots, assess their size and location, and guide treatment choices. Abnormal results most often come from blood clots, vessel disease, or tumor involvement, and risk increases with clotting disorders or recent immobility.
What do CT Scan Pulmonary Angiography results mean?
Findings are graded from normal to significant, and comparison with any previous scan shows whether a known finding is stable, improving, or progressing. Your doctor explains the report in the context of your symptoms. See the FAQs below for more detail on this scan.
How often should CT Scan Pulmonary Angiography be repeated?
For preventive screening with a normal baseline: annually for most adults above 35. For monitoring a known condition: at the interval your specialist recommends, typically every 3 to 6 months for active conditions and annually for stable, well-controlled ones.
What happens after your CT Scan Pulmonary Angiography results are ready?
You will be notified the moment results are ready, usually the same day for routine tests. Open the report in the GetVisit app to see each value beside its reference range, share it with your doctor in a tap, or book a specialist consultation to talk it through.
