CT SCAN PNS WITH 3D RECONSTRUCTION, in Navi Mumbai

3D reconstruction in CT uses computer algorithms to convert multiple cross‑sectional CT slices into a volumetric dataset and render three‑dimensional images. Post‑processing techniques (MPR, volume rendering, surface rendering and MIP) allow viewing anatomy from any angle, improving spatial understanding of bones, vessels and organs for diagnosis, surgical planning and interventional guidance. Reconstructions can be adjusted for contrast, slice thickness and windowing.

Cost of a CT PNS (paranasal sinuses) scan varies by country and facility: public‑health patients often pay nothing. Typical private prices: India roughly ₹1,500–6,000 for a non‑contrast scan; UK private clinics about £100–£400; in the United States prices commonly range from $200–$3,000 (many self‑pay patients pay roughly $300–$1,500). Costs depend on contrast use, location, and hospital.

A CT PNS (computed tomography of the paranasal sinuses) evaluates sinus anatomy and disease. It detects acute or chronic sinusitis, mucosal thickening, polyps, structural abnormalities, fractures, tumors, and bone erosion. It aids planning for endoscopic sinus surgery and assesses complications such as orbital or intracranial extension, offering detailed bone and air‑space imaging when endoscopy or X‑rays are inconclusive.

A CT scan acquires thin axial X‑ray slices of the body, producing detailed cross‑sectional images for diagnosis. A “3D CT” reconstructs those slice data into three‑dimensional views (surface or volume rendering). 3D reconstructions improve spatial understanding, surgical planning, and fracture/vascular assessment, but add processing time and do not increase radiation beyond the original CT and may obscure fine internal details.

3D reconstruction creates detailed, anatomically accurate models from medical imaging, improving diagnosis, surgical planning and treatment personalization. It helps visualize complex structures, quantify volumes, guide minimally invasive procedures, design implants, and plan radiation therapy. Enhanced spatial understanding reduces operative risk, shortens procedure time, supports patient communication and medical training, and advances research and forensic applications.

3D CT scans expose you to ionizing radiation, slightly increasing long‑term cancer risk. If intravenous contrast is used, side effects can include allergic reactions, nausea, flushing, headache, injection‑site pain or bruising, and rarely contrast‑induced kidney injury. Other concerns: discomfort from lying still, anxiety, and avoiding CT during pregnancy unless essential. Severe complications are uncommon.
