What is a CT SCAN IVP (Intravenous Pyelogram ) Test in Mysuru ?
What is CT SCAN IVP (Intravenous Pyelogram )?
A CT SCAN IVP (Intravenous Pyelogram) is an imaging study that uses injected contrast dye and CT images to show the kidneys, ureters, and bladder. The dye travels through the bloodstream and is cleared by the kidneys.
What does Intravenous Pyelogram show?
This highlights how urine flows and where blockages or leaks occur. It helps find kidney stones, tumors, structural problems, infections, or injuries. Doctors use it when someone has blood in the urine, sudden flank pain, recurrent urinary infections, or suspected obstruction. The test guides treatment choices, helps plan surgeries, and monitors known urinary tract problems over time.
What symptoms suggest Intravenous Pyelogram may be needed?
Intravenous Pyelogram is generally requested as part of a imaging assessment. Doctors commonly investigate this area when someone reports localised pain, swelling, or injury, a lump or restricted movement, or an abnormal finding on an earlier test that needs to be examined directly. Whether Intravenous Pyelogram specifically is the right test depends on your history and what your doctor is looking for. Sample collection for Mysuru is available at partner labs, with home collection in many areas including Yadavagiri and JP Nagar Mysuru; you can confirm availability for your address at booking.
How is Intravenous Pyelogram done?
This is an imaging scan, not a blood or fluid test, so no sample is collected. A qualified radiographer positions you at an accredited GetVisit-partnered imaging centre in Yadavagiri or JP Nagar Mysuru, Mysuru and captures the images in a few minutes. A radiologist reviews them and your report is made available through GetVisit.
How accurate is Intravenous Pyelogram?
Image quality and interpretation are the two pillars of accuracy. GetVisit's accredited centres serving Yadavagiri and JP Nagar Mysuru, Mysuru maintain modern equipment, and a qualified radiologist reviews each study before the report is issued.
Are there any risks to Intravenous Pyelogram?
Imaging is safe and non-invasive. Ultrasound and MRI use no ionising radiation; X-ray and CT use carefully controlled low doses justified by the diagnostic benefit. Inform staff at the Yadavagiri or JP Nagar Mysuru, Mysuru centre if you are pregnant or have implants or metal devices, so precautions can be taken.
Did you know?
A CT intravenous pyelogram is a contrast-enhanced CT scan of the urinary tract performed after IV injection of iodinated dye.

Why Take a CT SCAN IVP (Intravenous Pyelogram ) Test in Mysuru ?
When does a doctor order CT SCAN IVP (Intravenous Pyelogram )?
CT SCAN IVP (Intravenous Pyelogram ) is an imaging study used when doctors need detailed pictures of the urinary tract. It is ordered for symptoms such as blood in the urine, severe flank pain, recurrent infections, or abnormal ultrasound findings.
Who should get Intravenous Pyelogram done in Mysuru?
Mysuru's growing IT and industrial corridor, large education sector, rice-based diet driving diabetes and heart disease, and monsoon infection season make regular preventive diagnostic testing a sound habit citywide. Imaging benefits patients with pain, swelling, a palpable lump, injury, or an abnormal earlier finding, as well as those monitoring a known condition. GetVisit helps residents of Yadavagiri, JP Nagar Mysuru, and across Mysuru book accredited imaging with clear pricing.
What can Intravenous Pyelogram help detect?
The test helps diagnose stones, tumors, strictures, leaks, and trauma. Abnormal results can come from stones, infections, tumors, scarring from prior surgery, or impaired kidney function. A family history of kidney disease or recurrent stones may make this test more important.
What do Intravenous Pyelogram results mean?
An imaging report describes what the scan shows and whether it is normal or reveals a specific finding. A qualified radiologist interprets the images, and your doctor explains what any finding means for you and whether a further test or treatment is needed. The FAQs below cover what this scan can and cannot show.
How often should Intravenous Pyelogram be repeated?
For preventive screening with a normal baseline: annually for most adults above 35. For monitoring a known condition: at the interval your specialist recommends, typically every 3 to 6 months for active conditions and annually for stable, well-controlled ones.
What happens after your Intravenous Pyelogram results are ready?
Your GetVisit digital report is delivered to your phone as soon as results are authorised. Share it directly with your doctor via the app, or book a consultation with a GetVisit-verified specialist on the same platform. Critical values outside a safe range are flagged by the laboratory for urgent clinical review.
