What is a CT Scan Cisternography Test in Visakhapatnam ?
What is CT Scan Cisternography?
CT cisternography is an imaging procedure that tracks a special dye placed into the cerebrospinal fluid. The dye moves with the fluid so CT scans can show its flow and pooling. It is non-invasive and shows internal structures directly, providing information that blood and urine tests cannot.
What does CT Scan Cisternography show?
This helps doctors find leaks in the coverings of the brain, blockages of fluid flow, and abnormal spaces. It is important because it locates the exact site of a leak and guides repair or surgery. Doctors often use it when routine MRI or CT scans are unclear. It can explain clear nasal or ear drainage, positional headaches, recurrent meningitis, or symptoms after head trauma.
What symptoms suggest CT Scan Cisternography may be needed?
A doctor may recommend CT Scan Cisternography when a patient reports localised pain, swelling, or injury, a lump or restricted movement, or an abnormal finding on an earlier test that needs to be examined directly. In Visakhapatnam, you can book this test online with home collection available in Arilova, Kancharapalem, and beyond.
How is CT Scan Cisternography done?
No needle or sample is involved. At an accredited imaging centre serving Arilova and Kancharapalem, Visakhapatnam, a radiographer performs the scan, which is painless and usually completed within 10 to 15 minutes. A qualified radiologist interprets the images and issues a report you can access on GetVisit. (Home collection does not apply to imaging.)
How accurate is CT Scan Cisternography?
Image quality and interpretation are the two pillars of accuracy. GetVisit's accredited centres serving Arilova and Kancharapalem, Visakhapatnam maintain modern equipment, and a qualified radiologist reviews each study before the report is issued.
Are there any risks to CT Scan Cisternography?
Imaging is safe and non-invasive. Ultrasound and MRI use no ionising radiation; X-ray and CT use carefully controlled low doses justified by the diagnostic benefit. Inform staff at the Arilova or Kancharapalem, Visakhapatnam centre if you are pregnant or have implants or metal devices, so precautions can be taken.
Did you know?
In the United States, a CT cisternography typically costs about $1, 000-$5, 000 (private rates).

Why Take a CT Scan Cisternography Test in Visakhapatnam ?
When does a doctor order CT Scan Cisternography?
CT Scan Cisternography is used as a focused imaging study within neurologic and ENT evaluations to find cerebrospinal fluid leaks or flow blockages. Doctors often order it for clear fluid from the nose or ear, persistent positional headaches, or unexplained recurrent meningitis.
Who should get CT Scan Cisternography done in Visakhapatnam?
Visakhapatnam's coastal climate and cyclone-season infection risk, industrial and port workforce, rice-heavy diet driving diabetes and heart disease, and high summer humidity make regular preventive diagnostic testing a sound habit for residents across the city. Imaging benefits patients with pain, swelling, a palpable lump, injury, or an abnormal earlier finding, as well as those monitoring a known condition. GetVisit helps residents of Arilova, Kancharapalem, and across Visakhapatnam book accredited imaging with clear pricing.
What can CT Scan Cisternography help detect?
The conditions diagnosable through CT Scan Cisternography depend on the specific markers the test measures. Results either confirm a suspected diagnosis, support a clinical suspicion requiring further investigation, or effectively exclude the condition the test was screening for. Abnormal results arise from trauma, skull base defects, surgery, tumors, or connective tissue disorders. Family history of spontaneous CSF leaks or connective-tissue problems may make this test more important.
What do CT Scan Cisternography results mean?
An imaging report describes what the scan shows and whether it is normal or reveals a specific finding. A qualified radiologist interprets the images, and your doctor explains what any finding means for you and whether a further test or treatment is needed. The FAQs below cover what this scan can and cannot show.
How often should CT Scan Cisternography be repeated?
For preventive screening with a normal baseline: annually for most adults above 35. For monitoring a known condition: at the interval your specialist recommends, typically every 3 to 6 months for active conditions and annually for stable, well-controlled ones.
What happens after your CT Scan Cisternography results are ready?
You will be notified the moment results are ready, usually the same day for routine tests. Open the report in the GetVisit app to see each value beside its reference range, share it with your doctor in a tap, or book a specialist consultation to talk it through.
