What is a CT Scan Cisternography Test in Patna ?
What is CT Scan Cisternography?
CT cisternography is an imaging procedure that tracks a special dye placed into the cerebrospinal fluid. The dye moves with the fluid so CT scans can show its flow and pooling. It is non-invasive and shows internal structures directly, providing information that blood and urine tests cannot.
What does CT Scan Cisternography show?
This helps doctors find leaks in the coverings of the brain, blockages of fluid flow, and abnormal spaces. It is important because it locates the exact site of a leak and guides repair or surgery. Doctors often use it when routine MRI or CT scans are unclear. It can explain clear nasal or ear drainage, positional headaches, recurrent meningitis, or symptoms after head trauma.
What symptoms suggest CT Scan Cisternography may be needed?
A doctor may recommend CT Scan Cisternography when a patient reports localised pain, swelling, or injury, a lump or restricted movement, or an abnormal finding on an earlier test that needs to be examined directly. GetVisit makes testing convenient in Patna, with lab slots and home collection in Bailey Road, Sheikhpura, and nearby areas.
How is CT Scan Cisternography done?
No needle or sample is involved. At an accredited imaging centre serving Bailey Road and Sheikhpura, Patna, a radiographer performs the scan, which is painless and usually completed within 10 to 15 minutes. A qualified radiologist interprets the images and issues a report you can access on GetVisit. (Home collection does not apply to imaging.)
How accurate is CT Scan Cisternography?
Image quality and interpretation are the two pillars of accuracy. GetVisit's accredited centres serving Bailey Road and Sheikhpura, Patna maintain modern equipment, and a qualified radiologist reviews each study before the report is issued.
Are there any risks to CT Scan Cisternography?
A standard X-ray uses a very low dose of radiation considered safe for diagnostic use; ultrasound uses sound waves and involves no radiation at all. If you are or might be pregnant, tell the centre in Bailey Road or Sheikhpura, Patna beforehand so the safest approach can be chosen. There is no needle and no recovery time.
Did you know?
In the United States, a CT cisternography typically costs about $1, 000-$5, 000 (private rates).

Why Take a CT Scan Cisternography Test in Patna ?
When does a doctor order CT Scan Cisternography?
CT Scan Cisternography is used as a focused imaging study within neurologic and ENT evaluations to find cerebrospinal fluid leaks or flow blockages. Doctors often order it for clear fluid from the nose or ear, persistent positional headaches, or unexplained recurrent meningitis.
Who should get CT Scan Cisternography done in Patna?
Patna's Ganga floodplain geography and monsoon waterborne-infection burden, widespread iron and vitamin deficiency, rising diabetes and cardiovascular disease, and hot summers make regular preventive diagnostic testing especially valuable for residents across the city. Those who benefit most from CT Scan Cisternography include patients needing structural assessment that bloodwork cannot provide, and anyone under surveillance for a previously detected abnormality in Patna.
What can CT Scan Cisternography help detect?
The conditions diagnosable through CT Scan Cisternography depend on the specific markers the test measures. Results either confirm a suspected diagnosis, support a clinical suspicion requiring further investigation, or effectively exclude the condition the test was screening for. Abnormal results arise from trauma, skull base defects, surgery, tumors, or connective tissue disorders. Family history of spontaneous CSF leaks or connective-tissue problems may make this test more important.
What do CT Scan Cisternography results mean?
Findings are graded from normal to significant, and comparison with any previous scan shows whether a known finding is stable, improving, or progressing. Your doctor explains the report in the context of your symptoms. See the FAQs below for more detail on this scan.
How often should CT Scan Cisternography be repeated?
For preventive screening with a normal baseline: annually for most adults above 35. For monitoring a known condition: at the interval your specialist recommends, typically every 3 to 6 months for active conditions and annually for stable, well-controlled ones.
What happens after your CT Scan Cisternography results are ready?
Reports arrive digitally and remain in your GetVisit history, so repeat tests can be tracked over months and years. Review anything unexpected with your doctor before changing medication or lifestyle, and use the app to book a follow-up if needed.
