Cpk Mb (Creatinine Phosphokinase Mb)

CPK‑MB is the MB isoenzyme of creatine kinase (also called creatine phosphokinase), an enzyme abundant in heart muscle that helps regenerate cellular energy. It’s released into blood when cardiac cells are injured, so measuring CPK‑MB helps diagnose and time myocardial infarction. Levels typically rise within about 4–6 hours, peak near 24 hours, and return toward baseline over 48–72 hours; troponin is more specific.

CK‑MB (the MB isoenzyme of creatine kinase) normal values vary by laboratory but are commonly <5–6 ng/mL (or <5–6 µg/L), or under about 5–6% of total CK.
