What is a CPET Test (Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing) Test in Mumbai ?
What is CPET TEST (Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing)?
Cardiopulmonary exercise testing measures how well your heart, lungs, and muscles work together during activity. The test records breathing patterns, oxygen uptake, carbon dioxide output, heart rate, and blood pressure.
What does CPET TEST (Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing) measure?
These measurements show how efficiently your body delivers and uses oxygen during stress. Doctors use CPET to investigate unexplained breathlessness, reduced exercise tolerance, or fainting with activity. It helps detect heart failure, lung disease, pulmonary vascular problems, and deconditioning. Results guide treatment choices, rehabilitation plans, and fitness advice.
What symptoms suggest CPET TEST (Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing) may be needed?
A doctor may recommend CPET TEST (Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing) when a patient reports chest pain or tightness (especially on exertion), shortness of breath, palpitations or irregular heartbeat, unexplained fatigue, dizziness, ankle or leg swelling, and pain radiating to the left arm, jaw, or back. In Mumbai, you can book this test online with home collection available in Kurla, Andheri, and beyond.
How is CPET TEST (Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing) performed?
At a GetVisit-partnered lab in Kurla or Andheri, Mumbai, a certified phlebotomist cleans the inner elbow, locates a vein, and draws the required blood (typically 5 to 10 mL). The procedure takes 3 to 5 minutes. You feel a brief pinch at insertion and mild pressure during collection, then can eat, drive, and resume all activities immediately afterwards.
How accurate is CPET TEST (Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing)?
Every GetVisit sample from Kurla, Andheri, and across Mumbai is processed at NABL-accredited labs that use internationally calibrated reference standards, pass external quality assessments, and maintain internal quality control at every shift. Reports are accepted by all major hospital networks, specialists, and insurance providers in India.
Are there any risks to CPET TEST (Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing)?
A blood draw for CPET TEST (Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing) is very safe. Occasionally there is minor bruising or light-headedness; sitting for a couple of minutes afterwards at the Kurla or Andheri, Mumbai collection point usually prevents this.
Did you know?
CPET also tracks progress over time and shows whether treatments are improving your exercise ability.

Why Take a CPET Test (Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing) Test in Mumbai ?
When does a doctor order CPET TEST (Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing)?
CPET TEST (Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing) is used in cardiopulmonary assessment panels when patients have unexplained breathlessness, low exercise capacity, or dizziness with activity. Doctors order it to help diagnose or monitor heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, chronic lung disease, and overall fitness before surgery.
Who should get CPET TEST (Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing) done in Mumbai?
Mumbai's corporate population , concentrated in Lower Parel, Bandra-Kurla Complex, Worli, Nariman Point, Powai, and Andheri , faces compounded cardiovascular risk from multiple sources: high occupational stress, some of India's longest average daily commute times (many residents spend 3 to 4 hours commuting from Borivali, Thane, Vashi, and Belapur), disrupted sleep from variable shift patterns, and a diet increasingly dominated by restaurant and delivery food. Regular cardiac testing is recommended for patients on statin therapy (to confirm LDL has reached the treatment target), post-cardiac event patients (to monitor secondary prevention), people with type 2 diabetes (which doubles cardiovascular risk), and anyone with persistently elevated blood pressure.
What conditions can CPET TEST (Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing) help diagnose?
Abnormal results can result from heart or lung disease, deconditioning, obesity, anemia, or certain medications. A strong family history of heart disease may make CPET particularly useful.
What do CPET TEST (Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing) results mean?
LDL above 130 mg/dL: elevated risk , your cardiologist will advise dietary changes or statin therapy based on your overall risk score. LDL above 190 mg/dL may indicate familial hypercholesterolaemia. HDL below 40 mg/dL (men) or 50 mg/dL (women): reduced protection. Triglycerides above 200 mg/dL: diet, alcohol, or diabetes-related. Troponin above the 99th percentile: heart muscle injury , may signal a heart attack, especially if rising on serial testing.
How often should CPET TEST (Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing) be repeated?
Low-risk adults with a normal lipid profile: annually. Patients on statin therapy: every 6 months to confirm LDL is meeting the treatment target. Post-cardiac event patients: every 3 to 6 months as directed by their cardiologist. Patients with familial hypercholesterolaemia: every 3 months until stable on treatment.
What happens after CPET TEST (Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing) results are ready?
You will be notified the moment results are ready, usually the same day for routine tests. Open the report in the GetVisit app to see each value beside its reference range, share it with your doctor in a tap, or book a specialist consultation to talk it through.
