Blood Ketone (d3hb)

Blood ketone D3HB (D‑3‑hydroxybutyrate, or beta‑hydroxybutyrate) is the main circulating ketone produced by the liver during fasting, low‑carb diets, or prolonged exercise. It provides an alternative energy source for brain, heart and muscles. Measuring blood D3HB helps monitor nutritional ketosis and can detect dangerously high levels seen in diabetic ketoacidosis; levels are checked with blood ketone meters.

High ketones do not always mean diabetes. Ketones rise when the body burns fat for fuel—during fasting, low‑carb diets, heavy exercise, or alcohol use. Ketones are a normal alternative fuel produced during fasting or low-carbohydrate diets and can aid weight loss, improve metabolic markers, and treat epilepsy under medical oversight.
