What is a Aldosterone Renin Ratio Test in Patna ?
What is Aldosterone Renin Ratio?
The Aldosterone Renin Ratio (ARR) measures two hormones in the blood: aldosterone and renin. Aldosterone helps control salt and water balance and affects blood pressure. It is particularly important for people with diabetes or hypertension, the two leading causes of chronic kidney disease in India, responsible for over 60% of cases requiring dialysis.
What does Aldosterone Renin Ratio measure?
Renin is released by the kidneys and helps regulate aldosterone. The ratio helps detect primary aldosteronism, a cause of resistant high blood pressure and low potassium. Doctors use the ARR as a screening tool. If the ratio is high, further tests or imaging may follow.
What symptoms suggest Aldosterone Renin Ratio may be needed?
A doctor may recommend Aldosterone Renin Ratio when a patient reports ankle or leg swelling, reduced urine output, frothy or foamy urine, persistent fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, persistent itching, muscle cramps, and high blood pressure. Sample collection for Patna is available at labs and at home across Sheikhpura, Khagaul, and surrounding neighbourhoods.
How is Aldosterone Renin Ratio performed?
For Aldosterone Renin Ratio, a GetVisit phlebotomist in Sheikhpura or Khagaul, Patna applies a soft tourniquet, disinfects the site, and collects a small blood sample into a vacuum tube. The visit takes only a few minutes and you can return to your day straight away.
How accurate is Aldosterone Renin Ratio?
Results are analytically reliable because GetVisit's Patna logistics network maintains proper cold-chain transport from your Sheikhpura or Khagaul collection point to the processing lab, preserving sample integrity. NABL independently audits quality control at regular intervals.
Are there any risks to Aldosterone Renin Ratio?
Beyond a brief pinch, Aldosterone Renin Ratio carries almost no risk. Keep the arm relaxed during the draw, press gently on the site afterwards, and avoid heavy lifting with that arm for about an hour.

Aldosterone Renin Ratio Test Preparation in Patna
Fasting instructions:
Eat and drink as you normally would; fasting is not required. Try to avoid a very fatty meal or alcohol right before the appointment.
What to bring along:
Have your doctor's referral and photo ID ready; earlier reports for the same test are useful for tracking trends.
Managing medication:
Tell your doctor if you take painkillers such as ibuprofen or diclofenac, or ACE inhibitors, as these can nudge kidney readings; a short, safe pause may be advised.
Timing:
Book whenever is convenient; for fasting or hormone tests an early-morning slot is ideal. GetVisit covers Kankarbagh, Mithapur, and all of Patna.

Why Take a Aldosterone Renin Ratio Test in Patna ?
When does a doctor order Aldosterone Renin Ratio?
Aldosterone Renin Ratio is commonly included in a hypertension or endocrine workup when blood pressure is hard to control or potassium is low. Doctors may order it for unexplained or resistant high blood pressure, muscle weakness, or low potassium levels.
Who should get Aldosterone Renin Ratio done in Patna?
Seasonal water-quality issues, hot summers, and rising diabetes and hypertension rates together raise chronic kidney-disease and stone risk in Patna. Annual kidney testing is advisable for adults above 30, particularly in Anisabad, Phulwari Sharif, and Digha. Kidney testing matters most for people with diabetes or high blood pressure, a family history of kidney disease, recurrent kidney stones, or long-term use of painkillers such as ibuprofen or diclofenac. In Patna, residents of Sheikhpura, Khagaul, and areas with variable water quality or high summer heat face added dehydration-related renal stress, making annual checks worthwhile from age 30.
What conditions can Aldosterone Renin Ratio help diagnose?
The test helps diagnose primary aldosteronism and guides further imaging or treatment. Medications, posture, salt intake, and kidney problems can affect results, and a family history of early hypertension may make testing more important.
What do Aldosterone Renin Ratio results mean?
Higher or positive results: A high aldosterone-to-renin ratio means aldosterone is inappropriately high relative to renin, often indicating primary hyperaldosteronism (autonomous adrenal aldosterone production). Your doctor reads the value against the reference range on your report and your symptoms, and may repeat a borderline result to confirm it.
How often should Aldosterone Renin Ratio be repeated?
Adults with no risk factors and a normal result: annually from age 30. Diabetics and hypertensives: at least once a year, often every 6 months. Patients with known kidney disease: at the interval set by their nephrologist. Anyone starting a drug cleared by the kidneys: at baseline and periodically thereafter.
What happens after your Aldosterone Renin Ratio results are ready?
After the lab authorises your results, the report is uploaded to your GetVisit account and saved for future comparison. If anything falls outside the expected range, your doctor can advise whether it needs a repeat test, a lifestyle change, or a specialist opinion.
