Thyroid Panel - IV( FT3, FT4, TSH), in Visit Clinic

Fasting and dietary instructions:

No fasting is required for this test. However, avoid alcohol and heavy, fatty meals the evening before any blood test, as these can temporarily affect several common markers.

Medication guidance:

If you are on levothyroxine (thyroid replacement), do not take your morning dose before the blood draw , take the sample first, then take your medication. This gives the most accurate reading of your baseline hormone level. Discuss this with your endocrinologist if you have been given different instructions.

What to bring:

Carry your doctor's prescription or test requisition, a valid photo ID, and your corporate OPD insurance card if using cashless benefits. Wear clothing that allows easy access to the inside of your elbow , short sleeves or a rolled-up sleeve , for a comfortable blood draw.

Timing:

The best time for blood tests is in the morning after an overnight fast and adequate rest. Visit Clinic is open 8 AM to 9 PM. Booking an online slot ensures you go straight to sample collection without a queue.

When does a doctor order Thyroid Panel - IV( FT3, FT4, TSH)?

Doctors order Thyroid Panel - IV( FT3, FT4, TSH) when symptoms suggest thyroid dysfunction. Hypothyroid symptoms include unexplained weight gain, fatigue, feeling cold, constipation, dry skin, hair thinning, and low mood. Hyperthyroid symptoms include unexpected weight loss, rapid heartbeat, anxiety, heat intolerance, tremors, and excessive sweating. Both warrant a thyroid test.

Who should get Thyroid Panel - IV( FT3, FT4, TSH) done?

Clinicians order a thyroid panel (FT3, FT4, TSH) when patients have symptoms like fatigue, weight changes, heat or cold intolerance, palpitations, or mood shifts. It helps diagnose and monitor hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, and thyroiditis, and it evaluates response to thyroid medicines. Thyroid testing is especially valuable during pregnancy, as untreated hypothyroidism can affect foetal brain development. Women planning pregnancy or in the first trimester should have thyroid levels checked proactively. Post-thyroidectomy patients need lifelong monitoring, as the remaining gland may not produce sufficient hormones independently.
