X Ray Right Leg Lateral view

Lateral position of the leg X‑ray is a side‑view projection obtained with the limb turned so the affected side faces the image receptor. The patient lies on their side or sits with the knee slightly flexed (about 45°) and the ankle neutral. The X‑ray beam is centered on the mid‑tibia/fibula, producing a profile image to evaluate bone alignment, fractures, joint relationships, and surrounding soft tissues.

A lateral view in X‑ray is a side‑to‑side projection where the X‑ray beam passes through the body from one side to the other, producing a profile image. It complements front‑to‑back (AP/PA) views to show depth and relationships of structures, reduce overlap, localize lesions, and assess alignment, effusions, or fractures. Patients may be standing, sitting, or lying, often using left lateral for chest films.

A 4‑view knee x‑ray includes four standard radiographic projections—anteroposterior (AP), lateral, weight‑bearing (standing) AP, and skyline (patellar) or oblique—used to assess bone alignment, joint space, fractures, arthritis, and loose bodies. Multiple views improve detection of subtle fractures, cartilage loss, and patellar tracking problems. It’s quick, widely available, and often the first-line imaging for knee pain or trauma.

A lateral foot X-ray is a side-view radiograph of the foot that shows bones, joints and surrounding soft tissues in profile. It helps detect fractures, dislocations, bone alignment, degenerative changes and foreign bodies. The patient’s foot is positioned with the medial side on the detector (weight-bearing or non-weight-bearing), and the X-ray beam passes laterally to provide a clear hindfoot and forefoot profile.

A lateral X-ray is a side view, not inherently left or right. It can be taken as a left lateral or right lateral depending on which side of the patient contacts the image receptor — check the radiographic marker. For chest X‑rays, the left lateral view is commonly used to reduce heart magnification, but the image marker indicates actual laterality.

The lateral leg is the outer side of the lower leg, extending from the knee region (fibular head) down to the lateral malleolus at the ankle. It overlies the fibula and contains the fibularis (peroneal) muscles and branches of the common and superficial fibular nerves. This region aids foot eversion and helps stabilize the ankle during walking.
