X Ray Left Toe Ap & Lat View

AP (anteroposterior) means the X‑ray beam travels from the front (anterior) to the back (posterior) of the body; the detector sits behind the patient. AP is used when patients can’t stand and can slightly magnify structures. Lat (lateral) is a side‑to‑side view—beam passes through one side to the other—providing depth at 90° to the AP/PA view to help localize findings.

A lateral (lat) X‑ray view is a side‑to‑side radiographic projection taken with the X‑ray beam passing from one side of the body to the other. It provides a profile image that reveals depth, alignment, and posterior‑anterior relationships of structures—commonly used for chest, spine, skull, and joint assessment. It complements frontal views to localize lesions, detect fluid, and evaluate bone or soft‑tissue abnormalities.

Foot AP (anteroposterior) and lateral (AP lat) are standard X‑ray views imaging the foot front‑to‑back and side‑on. They evaluate bones, joints, alignment, fractures, dislocations, arthritis and foreign bodies. The AP view shows metatarsals and forefoot spacing; the lateral displays the calcaneus, talus and arches. Often done weight‑bearing to reveal functional deformities; oblique views may be added.

AP (anteroposterior) and PA (posteroanterior) describe the direction of the X‑ray beam through the body. In AP the beam enters the front and exits the back—commonly used for supine or portable studies and may slightly magnify the heart. In PA the beam enters the back and exits the front—used for standing chest X‑rays and gives less cardiac magnification, so it’s preferred for routine chest imaging.
