Ultrasound Gravid Uterus

A "gravid uterus" on ultrasound means the uterus contains a pregnancy. Imaging may show a gestational sac, yolk sac, fetal pole and cardiac activity as gestation advances; the uterus is enlarged with increased blood flow. Ultrasound evaluates pregnancy location (intrauterine vs ectopic), viability, number of embryos, and gestational age using crown–rump length or sac measurements.

Ultrasound examination of the gravid uterus is a non‑invasive imaging test using high‑frequency sound waves to visualize the pregnant uterus and fetus.
