CA125 values above 35 U/mL are generally considered elevated in adults. Mild rises occur with many benign conditions; markedly high levels (for example >200 U/mL) raise stronger suspicion for ovarian cancer but are not diagnostic by themselves. CA125 must be interpreted with clinical context, imaging and biopsy, and varies with age and menopausal status.

CA125 is a blood tumor marker mainly used to monitor ovarian cancer, but it is not reliable for detecting early cancer. Levels also vary with age. Because CA125 is not specific, an isolated raised result usually leads to repeat testing and imaging (ultrasound) rather than immediate cancer diagnosis; clinical context guides next steps.

Common first ovarian cancer symptoms include persistent bloating, pelvic or abdominal pain, early satiety or loss of appetite, and urinary urgency or frequency. Other signs can be changes in bowel habits, unexplained weight loss or gain, persistent fatigue, and unusual vaginal bleeding or menstrual changes.
